Headaches at 23 weeks?

Is anyone else experiencing awful headaches?? My eyes even becoming quite blurry when I stand up to quickly when I have one! I've been drinking loads so I can't be dehydrated! Pain relief only takes the edge off for a couple of hours and it's back with a vengeance again! My blood pressure is always quite low, I just have a low baseline this never effects me it's just what the docs say at checkups! Any idea what could be causing it durning this pregnancy

  • Headaches can just be a normal side effect of pregnancy. But keep your doctor up to date on your symptoms. Headaches and blurry vision can be precursors to pre-eclampsia, along with swelling and high BP. Keep an eye on your BP in particular.

  • I've suffered from migraines all my life. I don't remember having any during my first pregnancy with my daughter but that was 10 years ago. I'm 14 weeks now and am averaging a migraine every two weeks. I've found that ice on my forehead or a gel eye mask and heat on the base of my neck help. Unfortunately I can't take my prescription migraine meds now and Tylenol doesn't really do all that much. My OB prescribed Tylenol with codiene for when I can't stand the pain. Sometimes it makes me nauseous. No fun. Stay hydrated, a Gatorade can help. I've also read about Himalayan salt but haven't tried it yet.
  • I'm 25 wks and I've had headaches/head pains for 5 mths straight. Three diff weird types of pains. Pains that are not normal for me. I've talked to five drs, one being a neurologist, and all have told me there is nothing to worry about. My HA, health anxiety, keeps me from believing for the most part, but I am really trying. Hoping they disappear when baby is born.
  • I have bad headaches off and on. When it's not weather related (pg is the only time weather bothers my head) I take Tylenol or sometimes it's a sign you're not drinking enough water. If it's weather related I'll take Benedryl. GL I hope you can find some relief!

  • Same as pp could be weather related. I've gotten a few headaches lately from my sinuses (sp) try rubbing a spot of peppermint essential oil on the area (but keep away from eyes) it always helps me
  • I was getting headaches pretty often around 20 weeks (Will be 25 weeks tomorrow)
I'm currently seeing someone for Acupuncture. I no longer have headaches, (if you're open to the idea.. I would suggest Acupuncture) I would suggest applying a heat pad around your neck and upper back. It really helped me with my headaches (people would tell me it's because I didn't drink enough water but I knew was) I hope your headaches go away.
  • After having headaches for 2 months straight my doctor told me to take a magnesium oxide supplement. It's otc and really cheap. It's in our prenatal vitamins but there just wasn't enough for me and baby. It has helped 100% ask your doctors about taking it!!!!
