Tubal ligation

So the time is set I am having my tubal on Friday! I am mostly excited, but there is a sense of sadness like I will never get to be pregnant again or birth another child, but then I stop being all emotional about it I am super excited because we have two beautiful happy boys and we def. do not want anymore children. Anyone else having this done or have had it done or considering it?

Re: Tubal ligation

  • Yes I'm having mine done in December and iam so excited but also a little scared and nervous. I have 3 boys and I feel like my family is complete even tho I always wanted a girl its just not in the cards for me. Me and my husband actually had a little pregnancy scar last month and it made me realize I really don't want anymore kids. So yay can't wait. Good luck to you I hope your procedure goes smooth.

  • @janellvigil can I ask, how old are you? I am 30 and DH is 32. Everyone keeps saying we are so young. Yes we aren't old, but for the path that we have chosen in our lives I don't feel like it would be a good idea to have anymore children. I want to be a somewhat young grandmother and younger when they graduate high school and DH and I can enjoy our older years together. People are having Holstein much older now than in the past and that is perfectly fine, but don't judge me for want to be done having children at the age of 30 either. Ok sorry that was ranty. Just wondering where you were at with it.
  • ^ lol! My phone autocorrect kids to Holstein! :)
And I wasn't saying any of that to you either I was just venting to what people have said to me about it. Sorry that sounded rude.
  • @lovermyboys3 yes I feel the exact same way. I'm 25 and my DH is 27 everyone keeps telling us we are way to young and that were gonna regret it in the future. But we know exactly what we want we both feel like we're done and like our family is complete. And yes we don't want to be old raising kids not that it's a bad thing but we want to enjoy our lives. I completely understand were your coming from. I can't wait !

@lovermyboys3 My parents had my youngest sister at 31 and 32. I love having younger parents--especially now that I've had my son. My husband and I married later in life (I'm 32 and my husband is 40), so that's not what our life looks like, but I think it's great.
  • My parents had my brother at 30 also and then my mom had this procedure done. I love having young parents and they love being young grandparents too!! I think if you are set in what you and your husband want, then go for it! You and your DH know what's best for your family and I'm sure you will enjoy them and then when the time comes, enjoy your grandchildren! Good luck and I hope everything goes out great with the procedure!
  • I'm 36 and had the ligation done when I had the C section. I feel really good about this decision because I was technically AMA and we have a 4 year old boy and a 4 month old girl. I never thought we'd have kids but now I feel our family is complete. My mom had the tubal and a year later had my brother. (13 years after having me) one in a million chance. They put dye in her to find the connection and didn't see one. Some times things happen!! My husband offered to get snipped also just in case.
  • @corndogrobot we considered DH getting snipped too, but dr said it was kind of overkill because the procedure I am having done they burn the tubes so it is non reversible too. Yes our boys are 5 years and 41/2 months now we didn't plan the age gap but because of miscarriage and difficulty getting pregnant that is what life have us and I wouldn't change it for the world but I think of our 5 yr old if we were to space our 4 month old and the next he would be 7 or 8 and I don't want that. I know I don't have to explain myself to you guys but thank you for comments they really made me feel better
