Infertility

I'm new here

I was diagnosed with PCOS.  So i have done all three rounds of clomid and it did not work.  i just started yesterday taking the follistim pen.  i injected 75IU's last night.  i'm hoping that this medication will work for me.  The doctor wanted me to go the IVF route but of course my insurance wants me to do three rounds of injectables.  Has anyone had any bad side effects from the medication?

Re: I'm new here

  • @ultratomato I also have PCOS and did Clomid before switching to Follistim for my most recent cycle. Also 75 iu's. I had no side effects. The injection site hurts for a few minutes afterwards but then goes away. And you barely feel the needle because it's so small. GL!

  • Welcome @ultratomato - I'm sorry you find yourself here.  I actually had less side effects from injectables than I had with oral meds.  I hope you find the same.  I did however develop cysts after my injectable cycles.  I also have PCOS.  Good luck!!

  • Welcome!  I just started follistim injections last night, but I'm doing 125 IUs.  So far no side effects and I'm hoping it stays that way through 3 additional, if not more, injections!  I'm sick though (which started yesterday morning so unrelated) so I think I just feel like crap from my cold.

Is your insurance covering 3 rounds of injectables with IUIs?

  • @wifeinraleigh28 my insurance is great i work for the state and they are covering everything which i'm fortunate for.  i just wish i could of skipped to IVF.  I'm also sick with a cold or sinus infection so i called the doctor to see what i can take they said tylenol cold and flu or sinus.  I go friday to see how I'm doing and see when the IUI will happen.
