Keeping this ALL to OURSELVES....for now anyway!

This is EXCRUCIATING to say the least. I found out at exactly 4 weeks....lol... All but 3 people know I am expecting. My husband and I plan on telling our family and some friends Christmas. THAT'S 5 WEEKS AWAY! This is worse than black friday shopping! Ultimately we are doing this so that I am carrying long enough to rule out a MC. I will be 10 weeks and 3 days by then. Ordered What to Expect When You Are Expecting to read and of course reading plenty on here! Any advice to make the time pass?

  • I have been killing time posting and reading on here. You are probably already doing that but it helps me!

  • I feel you. I found out at 3w3d we are waiting until Xmas day to tell family. I will be 13 weeks then.
It's hard not mentioning it to people but we aren't ready to go there yet.
I am keeping busy by being on here and Pinterest. Time seems to be going by super quick! Hopefully it does the same for you :)

  • I started researching things and creating registries. This has helped me not think of MC.  Kind of a planning for something positive instead of anxiety for worst case scenario.

  • Stuff to do: make a thousand registries (do Target first- they give you a free gift bag to pick up at guest services! It's mostly coupons and small samples, but stuff to put in the future nursery!), creating secret/private pinterest boards (pregnancy, baby, nursery, birthing, lactation...), googling giveaways and entering a million different sweeps a week, doing some maternity clothes window shopping/ making wish lists, putting together netflix queues full of movies about pregnancy and babies and then watching said movies- so far rewatched "What to Expect When You're Expecting", "Juno", and "Knocked Up", subscribe to ALL the pregnancy and new mommy youtube channels- I LOVE the week by week vlogs because the girls are so real and relatable, and of course post here a million times a day because who are we kidding focusing isn't going to happen.
  • Do you crotchet or knit? It's very time consuming. Also if you are handy or like to paint many start making some art for baby's room? Agree with everyone else start cueing Netflix!
  • @noelietrex off topic but I heard target gift registery is HORRIBLE and to be avoided at all costs from spending a few months lurking I baby shower and registry boards.

  • @Lasscher I'm only in it for the free gift bag ;) If anyone goes to my Target registry, all they'll find are cloth diapers and prefolds! In case some family member refuses to use Amazon or Babies R Us though, at least they'll know what I want.

Yes, Target is notorious for not marking items off the registry when they are purchased, and also sometimes the codes change, so something says "not available in store" when really it is. I know this from friends' baby showers and lurking the boards.

  • It is so hard to wait!  But after the first ultrasound it really does help, or at least it did with me!  Seeing our babies heartbeat just made everything okay and then I was fine with everything taking its course.  That being said, we are going to tell our parents during Thanksgiving even though it will be quite early.  I'll almost be 9 weeks by then, but its the only time our families will be together.  Everyone else will have to wait until Christmas!
  • I sew......adult and children's clothing. So until we find out what this little peanut is, I'm working on my maternity clothes stash :-). Plus posting on here.....Pinterest......and trying to figure out how we're gonna tell our parents at Christmas!

@Puddles03 I don't crochet or knit but my friend does. Maybe I should take it up! She makes the cutest baby hats and actually has items on Etsy. In the meantime, I am a Pinterest-a-holic however I haven't started really pinning baby items or making a baby registry. Maybe I'm thinking too far into this but if I establish a registry, my name comes up linked to baby items on Google which would tip off my SIL, a huge computer geek. For that reason, I think I may just wait!
I also had viewed Target as a means for a baby registry when I am ready but now hearing this is good insight in making my decision. There is always good old Macy's (formally a New Yorker) as well as Babies-R-Us.
I am definitely down  for Netflix & chill...(almost done with the 3rd season of OITNB)
I am also coming up with ideas for how we are going to announce this to the family. I will most likely be recruiting our two french bulldogs, Yogi & Brooklyn who are the babies before the baby! Thanks for all of your input and God Bless xo

  • I'm wishing we could reveal during the holidays, but we are going to wait a bit longer. I'll feel better once I get my first ultrasound (Dec 4). I'm just so paranoid that I won't see that fluttering heart. Probably because it took us quite some work to get pregnant this go around (secondary infertility sucks). Just keep twittling my thumbs and wishing it was time to spill the beans.
  • We told our parents a few days after we found out, but we are holding off telling anyone else until after Christmas. I am pretty impatient and I thought this would be excruciating, but actually I am kind of enjoying our small secret for now. It feels like an intimate, secret adventure.

@IB113 I only have my MIL but she would definitely slip up I think if I told her. I lost my mom when I was 8. I KNOW I would SO GO and tell her if she was here...LOL
She's probably LOVING me squirm around waiting to tell somebody...HEHE

I just got my BFP last night and confirmed this morning, I'm exactly 4 weeks. I'm having a hard time not telling everyone! I've told 3 of my closest friends since they had experience POAS and I needed a second opinion on mine last night! I also told my sister today because we were having lunch and I just couldn't keep my mouth shut. DH and I decided to wait until Christmas to tell the parents, I'll be 8ish weeks by then which is still early. I figure, if something were to happen, my family are the ones I will turn to anyway. Thanksgiving is going to be so hard! Just keeping my FX for a sticky bean!

  • @MRSCORKER Congrats love! Yes, telling some people in the family is great. I see both sides. Having family there in case something does go wrong is always good so you can fall back on them. Being that my one good friend knows already and happens to be 14 weeks along herself, I know if God forbid I had a MC, I'd go directly to her! Your sister is a good choice! Wishing all the best!
