Re: Weekly Symptom Thread 11/16

  • Progress (week/day): 14w.1d

Symptoms: HELLLOOOOO 2nd tri. I am calling this the tri of pain. I think I might have the start of Carpal Tunnel. Sore hands and wrists with some tingling. I also think I have the start of sciatica. How fun! I cant sit for more than 30 minutes before my back hurts. I am a mess...
pain sad quote gossip girl hurt
Rants/Raves/Questions: I mentioned this yesterday, but my bloaty bumpy thing is shrinking. I know its normal and its the bloat leaving, but it doesnt mean I didn't search for this and read about a hundred past posts about it last night!

  • Progress (week/day): 16w0d

Symptoms: RLP is sucking really bad lately! It happens TMI especially when I pee so that sucks even more because I am peeing every 30 minutes! Ugh! I am also getting headaches more frequently. Other than that I feel great! ;)

Rants/Raves/Questions: I hear you on the bloat going down bit! It happened to me around 14 weeks, too. Now my bump is back and is harder/more pronounced then it ever was!
  • Progress (week/day): 16w3d

Symptoms: Also hating RLP and all the other weird crampies and pains. My right heel is all types of weird.

Rants/Raves/Questions: I have a cold with a terrible cough and sometimes when I cough really hard I pee my pants a little in addition to getting RLP. It is a real whirlwind. About the shrinking bumpy blumpy - I lost some of the bloat too, I could tell it was just bloat because I only lost the girth in the top part of my belly. My bump is now pretty low, because the baby is low. From my belly button down it is legit.
  • Progress (week/day): 15 weeks & 3 days

Symptoms:Heartburn, so I'm having all the tums!
I've been getting sharp shooting pains about 4 inches below my bellybutton.  They come and go for the past few days. Thought it was round ligament pain but that says it's usually to one side, this is direly on my mid line. It's not like period cramping or constipation pain.

Rants/Raves/Questions: Anyone else have these pains, is it just growing pains from the uterus expanding?  I have a call into my OB but I'm getting anxious.
  • Progress (week/day): 15w6d

Symptoms: Feeling better these days. I learned the hard way that I'm not ready to stop taking diclegis, though. Definitely feeling BH contractions in the last week. I had them all through second and third tri with DD, and boy are they annoying.

Rants/Raves/Questions: I'm not convinced I would recognize RLP. I don't remember having it much with DD, and I haven't noticed anything like that this time around. Maybe that's the trade off for vomiting my way through the first 13 weeks ;).
  • Progress (week/day): 15w4d

Symptoms: I have sore boobs off and on still but I'm thinking that may stick around longer for me since I just weaned last month (it was a slooooow process to get there, so I'm not concerned about plugged ducts). My fatigue is finally fading. I have been experiencing RLP off and on, and had a few Braxton Hicks contractions last week on two days when I was stressed/running around like a crazy woman. I had lots of them with DS, but they still feel so weird to me. My joints are definitely looser and I've been accidentally pulling my shoulder out of place (it's an old injury...thankfully I know how to get it back in), and my hips feel like they're coming apart some days; I pulled out a ball to sit on at home and that has helped tremendously.

Rants/Raves/Questions: Rave: This little one is wiggling up a storm the past few days in the evening after rocking DS, and in the mid-morning. I had just been thinking on Friday that I couldn't wait to feel him/her more regularly and I'm so glad the movement has picked up. I usually still have to be sitting or standing very still to feel it (which is rare), but it's unmistakable now. : )
Rant: Well, sort of both a rave and a rant. DS has gotten so much better with night sleeping since transitioning him to a low twin bed and since weaning. However, the past few days, rather than getting up briefly around 4am and then going back to sleep either with some back pats or cuddles, he hasn't gone back to sleep until 5am-5:30am. I'm so tired-- and I know it's the lack of sleep now because my fatigue had been getting better. I'm trying to stick to the routine because it's been working well, but if he does this again tonight, I'm either crawling in bed with him again (we've done partial night bed-sharing for a long time and just recently stopped since I'll be getting bigger and he has been wanting to spread out more when he sleeps) or I'm getting DH up to sit with him while he falls asleep again. I normally have to wake up to get ready for work by 5:15am...so I've been up since 3:45am today. I love him dearly, but Mama needs some sleep finally.
  • Progress (week/day): 12w3d

Symptoms: Headaches, tender/huge boobs, a little bump is forming! Still get pretty tired but I'm starting to feel a little more energetic throughout the day.

    Rants/Raves/Questions: I'm over the headaches.
  • Progress (week/day):  14 weeks and 3 days

Symptoms: Heatburn and RLP seem to be the biggies. Every now and then I get a headache and have to force myself to drink more water and that usually helps.  My energy is back mostly which is nice.

Rants/Raves/Questions: I keep craving things I don't even like.. like coffee. I hate the taste of it but holy crap I want some so hubby got me some flavored decaf stuff- I got two sips in and couldn't stand the after taste but I still want it. It's so weird, and annoying. Also I have people pointing out that some of what I'm eating is what they would consider "junk" and I want to yell at them that that's a stupid thing to say to a pregnant woman.
  • Progress (week/day): 14+2

Symptoms: Heartburn, headaches, and what I think is the occasional RLP if I get up or move in certain directions too quickly.

Rants/Raves/Questions: I could do without the heartburn and headaches. The combo causes me to be slightly nauseous and I really don't want that coming back.
  • Question for you ladies. Has anyone had tired abs, almost like how they would feel thre day after a good workout? I've been noticing this since Saturday and it's worse today. I'm sure it's fine, but wondering if it's "normal"??

    cat fail animated GIF

  • @yogahh yes! I think it's from all the shifting and stretching happening in there. I probably posted this before but my doctor's comment about it was "there is nothing gentle about pregnancy." Our utes and babes are growing fast without much regard for our ad muscles or vital organs.

Mine felt like that last pregnancy. First they were aching, then they felt like pulled muscles (which, they actually were, just not rom working out). My upper abs especially were really uncomfortable for a couple of months while my bump grew until my muscles lengthened/stretched and parted a bit.
  • Progress (week/day): 14+5

Symptoms: Headaches, vomiting, soreness. Having the same feeling @yogahh!

Rants/Raves/Questions: Totally tired of these dang headaches. Also really thought the MS would have let up. But for me, it seems to have gotten worse in the 2nd trimester.

    Pregnancy Ticker

  • This isn't really a pregnancy symptom but I don't want to start a speshul snowflake thread.

I am having a colitis flare-up and it sucks. I have an appt with a GI specialist today and my OB has referred me to a maternal fetal specialist for a consultation. I tried to ignored it out of existence when the symptoms began last week but here I am still struggling. Google is NOT my friend and has scared the crap out of me, apparently flare-ups can cause issues. I stopped reading because it was only scaring me, and keep reminding myself that I'll see a doctor today who will tell me everything I need to know. I am truly hoping that my symptoms are happening because of hemorrhoids (anything else please) because there is no risk to the baby if that's all it is. Unlikely I know, but anything's possible.

The whole thing is really getting me down. It's painful and gross and making me feel sad and embarrassed.
  • Progress (week/day): 15w4d

Symptoms: Heartburn, hip pain when I sleep on my left side (it goes numb too), and TMI but I think I need to take a stool softener. Things are hard down there and it's just painful.

Rants/Raves/Questions: No questions or rants. Just excited for my appt tomorrow. It's the first time I'll be seeing the Dr who I'd like to do my repeat c section. She's done 2 of my friends and comes highly recommended. I switched to the practice well before even getting pregnant. So I'm going to tell her I want her to do that and hopefully get a little more info of that process. Since she hasn't seen me, she might want to do an ultrasound too!

URG, no fun! DH has diverticulitis and colitis issues, and I always feel so bad for him when the flare ups hit. He has been hospitalized before they are so bad. I can only imagine throwing pregnancy into the mix. This is one time its ok to be a snowflake :)

  • @LadySamLady I hope you start feeling better soon. :( Let us know how your appointment goes.
  • Progress (week/day): 16w, 3d

Symptoms: Hip pain when I sleep, though I think it's gotten a little bit better than a week ago.

Dry skin out of nowhere! I've never had this problem before, on my face, legs, arms, nipples!

Less bloated in the morning, almost pre-pregnant looking when I wake up. By the end of the day though, I look about 7 months in from all the water I've drank and how bloated I get.

    Rants/Raves/Questions:
I'm waaaaayyy less sleepy now, and can usually go the whole day without napping now (my whole first tri was a blur of naps). So that's a plus.

Oh! And we got our DNA panel back with "low likelihood" on all the genetic risk factors, so our little dude is looking healthy. MAJOR plus.

The rant part I guess is that I don't have that generalized uncomfortable/weird/pressure-y feeling that I had come to associate with "feeling pregnant". Thank God for the Doppler and being able to "check in" on him, bc at times I'm just not convinced he's even there anymore.
  • Thank you so much @yogahh @Bluejay3030

GI appointment went as well as can be expected, I really liked this new doctor - she did her best to make me comfortable despite the uncomfortable nature of the exam. It is definitely a colitis flare up and so I've got to go back on medication for it and (ew tmi) start doing an additional medication in the form of a rectal suppository ewwww. Both meds are safe in pregnancy. I go back in two weeks to check on my progress and we'll go from there. Fingers crossed the meds do their job and I'm not worse or the same by then!!

Next week I'll see my OB and get the maternal fetal specialist referral. I'm hoping my OB is simply being cautious and that there isn't too high risk associated. My GI was reassuring that as long as I get healthy, and we have plenty of reason to think that I will, we do not need to worry about the baby's health.

I really, really appreciate your kindness and support! It's nice to have a place where I can talk about this with (dare I say it) friends who care. Internet friends for life y'all!

  • 15w today...

Symptoms: some back pain, 5 days ago I woke up and don't feel pg like something is wrong with the baby, my boobs itch and burn, I have to pee ALL THE TIME, I'm still breaking out, my nails are growing like wildfire but my hair not so much, I've been getting heartburn, stuffy nose, sneezing, feeling heavier, still a lot of aversions and not much of an appetite, gained 1lbs, my teeth and gums ache, I'm farty, and growing belly.

Questions: I bring up the above statement that I woke up and don't feel pg. It's purely instinctual. I''ll be honest, I don't remember who it was but they had seen a HB and movement but with an US found an abnormality and had to abort the baby (does anyone remember this poor woman that was on here??) and her story has sent me into a freakin tailspin. I don't get to see LO until a week before Christmas and I'm terrified something like that is going to happen. With DD I wasn't ever this paranoid or felt such doom. I trust my instincts and just am scared something is really wrong or I'm already starting post partum. I called my doc and they offered for me to come in today instead of Friday but I declined bc I just feel crazy now. I don't not feel pg bc my symptoms have changed and/or disappeared I feel it bc my instincts are telling me so. I don't know why they don't just offer to do an US (it's right there in the office and the doctor does it himself). I literally feel nuts. Anyone else go through this??

  • Twelve weeks and three days and thankfully most symptoms are gone! Only thing that started today was realizing I looked so fat today. I haven't popped yet and am just looking like I gained a ton of weight. Hoping it turns into a bump soon!
  • @LadySamLady I'm glad there's a pregnancy-safe treatment, even if it is kind of gross . I hope it does the trick! And yay for internet friendsies that we can share all the nastiness with that we would never tell people IRL!
  • @doozer1345 hang in there it's normal to worry especially after reviewingsomeone else's experience like that! Send your baby some good thoughts, and if you would feel better hearing your babies heart beat or an ultrasound then ask your doc to do one!
  • @saraleigh2 They've done the HB and do every time but I don't see him/her until a week before Christmas. Maybe it's just mental after seeing that post.

I have noticed that sometimes being on TB has made me more paranoid/anxious than I probably would've been. When I notice this happening, I tend to take a break for a couple of days (I am still around, just not as much).
  • Resurfacing this thread to ask...

Any one having sharp pains in their ovary area? I have RLP when I sneeze or cough or whatever but this is just like a random sharp, shooting pain in where I imagine my right ovary to be. I'm going to assume it's just more stretching but it's not comfortable!

    I'm 16w 4d if that helps.

Yeah, seems like RLP, along with some stretching. Oh, the mysteries of pregnancy!

Yup! It's not when I sneeze or any time in particular, or very often, but I could just be sitting there and suddenly I'll have these sharp pangs in the area. I always feel nervous afterwards and check for the heartbeat :-/ It completely freaks me out bc they don't feel like muscle spasms the way my other pain has felt so far, but I guess it's all part of the process.
