Just for fun: Things you've said to your LO/ bump.

I find my self talking to my belly a lot lately. Saying things like " PLEASE don't be kicking my bladder right now!" Or even apologizing when I'm yelling at DH and I feel movement and then feel like I disturbed LO's sleep. Have you said anything funny to your growing baby? How about in public? I can see myself doing this and getting funny looks.

Re: Just for fun: Things you've said to your LO/ bump.

  • My baby kicked once when I was flipping through radio stations and that new Drake song came on. My response was "you're going to be just like your father aren't you?" I'm not a fan of Drake or rap, but DH likes it sometimes.

  • I plead with her to stop punching and kicking my cervix. To which my husband cheers her on with a "kick the mommy!" chant.

I have a feeling she's going to be a little stinker, but I love spunky, spirited little kids so that's perfect :)
  • Really when I start having BH or RLP, I'm just like "C'mon, be nice to mommy!"

Our family of 5 is complete!!  Love our boys!

  • When I drive by DH's work, I say "wave goodbye to daddy".
  • "Settle down in there!" Or "yes, I know you're in there".
  • I find myself at least once a day saying "Chill out in there!" But lately since he's so big it's mostly been "I know you like to stretch but can you not do it sideways?" DH also leads him in a "kick the mommy" chant from time to time. Sooooo appreciated.
  • We all talk to my bump daily.  When I leave for work DD and DH both say good-bye to both me and Spencer :) Same thing when I come home.  I laugh and giggle, rub my belly, and talk to him in the car.  So far we found out he likes Green Day, Collective Soul, and (don't ask) Lady Gaga lol- those are when he kicks the most but he loves my 90's hits.  When Daddy leaves for work he always includes saying good-bye to my tummy too.  I tell my baby I love him all the time.  Even in the middle of the night when he wakes me up I giggle and talk to him. I love it!  I didn't get this attached with my daughter when she was inside me, and I get that guilty feeling- but then again I was very young (20) and then it felt awkward.  Now it feels totally normal :)

  • i tell him he better be one cute little baby all the time! hahah. especially when i step on the scale, try squeezing into my pre-pregnancy jeans, or look at myself in the mirror.
i also like to tell him how stubborn he is, like me & Daddy. every time my SO tries to feel him moving, he stops. my SO finally got to feel for the first time a couple nights ago. he was so happy/excited, he started crying. my heart melted.
  • "I AM GOING TO FEED YOU RIGHT NOW" when she kicks and I'm in the process of getting food.

Just got kicked while reading this

Ditto, good morning at every first morning kick, goodnight and i love you before I go to bed. Hey kiddo, let mommy sleep - when it keeps me up at night. Just pick something already - when I'm having food aversions but starving.

    Edit: food not good

  • I had to take my weekly bump picture today and DH told our son to smile for the camera, then complained because "he's definitely not smiling". So apparently my tummy is see-through? Lol

  • DH and I always tell each other and Baby H goodnight and some nights the kicking stops but other nights "Baby, mommy said night night not time to have a party"

If I get kicks while eating "I'm glad you are enjoying (whatever im eating at the time)"

Random kicks throughout the day "Mommy knows you are in there but thanks for the reminder" all while giggling
  • Whenever I have a full blown out day of being sick and the morning sickness turns into all day sickness I say "mommy is not happy with you right now Harley! But it's okay because I love you"
  • "Stop being an asshole"

Literally snorted from laughter on this one.
  • I'm trying to say things out loud more often. DH pointed out that he was watching me try to pick something to eat and I kept shaking my head and looking down. Apparently I seem to think that this baby can hear my internal monologue. Lol! He said he only hears me verbally talk to the bump when there's someone else in the room, otherwise he just catches me makin weird expressions and shaking my head at it.

  • "Cover your ears" every time I am about to say a naughty word.
  • I talk to Nayeli all the time. I tell her how much I love her and cant wait to see her. Plus talk about what making and having at meals . Tell her all the time to move away from my bladder. Then at night when I'm trying to sleep I say come on knock it the hell off and settle down in there mommy is tired and getting cranky. She doesn't listen though and keeps it up.
  • At our ultrasound today baby was not cooperating. The sonogram technician was having difficulty clearly seeing the arches of the heart so I kept asking baby to behave so we can see their arches... baby then moved and showed us their feet. Not those arches lol
  • I have been saying "Thank you," for every kick since I first started feeling them. Often it's a sarcastic sentiment, when he's kicking my cervix. I also apologize for swearing, and acknowledge "Yes, I am feeding you hot chocolate." He dances when I have cocoa...
  • I've just started trying to finalize a name by asking him while he's moving.
I love the dads cheering the "kick mommy" cheer. Cracks me up! DH is so nervous about becoming a dad he's been anxious about even talking about it. But I know he cares a ton since he's always telling me to be careful. He would deinitely be one of those cheering on the kicks though.
  • I tend to tell her to "stop it I'm trying to focus" as its test time at school and she only seems to want to dance around when I am not paying attention. DH still hasn't felt her as as soon as he's near she stops moving. So he hasn't started talking to her as its hard for him to connect.

I also tend to poke at her and comment as she likes to be off to one side or the other and it throws me off balance. Pretty sure it's a sign of things to come.

  • Hubby talkes to her more then i do , he says "this is your father speaking" like hes on the phone! So funny. I say hi to her when she kicks me as i only feel her a couple times a day (anterior placenta) but she does like to move around when i eat!
  • I laugh and say "sheesh" when he kicks me hard and my whole body moves! Or if I have to pee for the millionth time and my hubby laughs at me, I say "Well, if your son wasn't constantly pushing on my bladder, I wouldn't have to pee so much!"
  • If it's been a while since I've felt her move, and suddenly she kicks me hard, I tend to say, "Good morning to you, too!"

  • I always rub my belly and say "woah there" and "hey!" and "yes baby girl I know."

I haven't had any conversations with her or anything because I feel a bit awkward lol DH likes to randomly talk to her but he always uses a different voice! I tell him that he is going to scare her with all of those weird voices and she won't know his voice when she gets out!

  • My son (7) said something cute to the bump a few days ago. He was trying to get her to move so he could feel. She wasn't cooperating. So, he puts his mouth near my belly - button and says, "come on, sister!". I thought it was adorable. :)
  • LO was shouting/being silly to the brother.  We also say "KICK MOMMY!"  loudly when we are trying to feel him move.
I tell the belly to "take notes" when talking about a good kid and "cover your ears" when someone is talking about their poor sleeper/eater.
