Two Under 2

Not quite 2u2, but thought this would be a good place to ask

So, DD2 will be 24 months + 12 days when DD3 is born.

Last night I had a panic attack and it was centred around dealing with newborn and a newly 2 year old while recovering from a c-section.

DD2 is still in a crib and still wears a diaper, but fairly independent. I'm worried about lifting her in and out of her crib, and onto the change table.

Any suggestions or other ideas that worked for your family during recovery?

  • I had help for the first 10 days then I just had to do it. DD was 17 months so I had to lift her in and out if the crib, car seat, high chair, changing table. When she refused to go up and down the stairs then I had to carry her. Get as much help as you can. Thankfully I had no complications from lifting her.

  • I don't have experience with c-section recovery, but when is #2 due? Can you consider potty training or transitioning to a toddler bed before baby arrives? I wouldn't suggest doing it if you'll only have a week or two in the new arrangement before baby arrives, but might be worth considering. Changing two sets of diapers is not ideal.
  • I am scheduled for my c-section on Dec 15. We have chosen not to push out 23 month old into anything she isn't ready for. She loves her crib, and hasn't indicated that she is interested in using the toilet.
