Stretch marks on my butt?!?!

Yep... I ugly-cried in the shower this morning after I saw the stretch marks on my behind. I'm 15w5d and a FTM. I have been putting lotion on my breasts and tummy, but did not expect this. I guess I should have, considering my butt has been growing as much as my belly, but this wasn't even on my list of worries. At least not yet.
I know some others have been caught off guard by early stretch marks, but has anyone else been surprised by the location of them?
Time to get used to my body never looking the same I guess

  • Yes you are not the only one! I invested in this cream though so hopefully it helps!

I have to laugh because my butt hasn't 'grown' yet but as early as 8 weeks I noticed red stretch marks on my butt start and on only the inside of my left breast! So, yup... I put lotion on it daily, along with my belly and the rest of my body... But I cried too! I'm okay with it now... I'm 12 weeks 5 days and I assume it will probably get darker... But I'm just hoping it remains on my butt and doesn't decide to invite friends to my thighs or stomach!

Luckily though... My moms stretch marks completely left when her pregnancy hormones went back to normal and she lost the weight... Same with my sisters... So there's hope for my butt! Lol
  • This is my second and I just found a huge squiggly stretch mark under my brand new boob!!! I just had a lift and reduction a month before I conceived. I knew when I found out I was pg my efforts of new boobs would be for nothing but stretch marks?! Come on! I didn't get them on my boobs with DD

  • Phew! Good to know (: thanks @babykasper btw, because that gives me hope for some of the changes not being permanent! It also feels good to know I'm not the only one to cry. My husband did make me feel better, but I'm sure he thought I was a hormonal mess this morning haha!
  • Stretch marks fade :-) One of my best friends was shocked to have the most stretch marks on her butt and thighs, not her belly! But I promise they fade with time. I think you've got the right idea, this IS the perfect time to try embracing your new body. It won't be the same as before baby, but neither will your heart! A mother's body is beautiful too, stretch marks and all <3

Honestly, I was devastated when I started getting stretch marks during my first pregnancy. It started with a few...and I turned into a tiger. For real. I have so many on my stomach and sides. BUT after giving birth and falling in love with my little man...I don't care! I don't care one bit. & I'm being completely honest. Yes, they are not pretty, but I have a beautiful, perfect son. So they don't even matter to me anymore. This probably isn't what you want to hear, but all the imperfections that may happen to your body are for the greatest reason.

You are right, it'll be worth it. My husband said the same thing, and it's amazing to know he doesn't mind the changes. His opinion of me matters so much and he was so kind about it.
Being a FTM, I'm still a little selfish (or a lot), and I think that will continue until the baby is here. So these changes are definitely a shock, but you are correct in that the end result will make the stretch marks seem like nothing (I hope!!!)

This. All of this. I didn't get stretch marks with DS until around week 24-- but then they covered my stomach, hips, and inner thighs. It felt like I got a new one every day. They fade and shrink, and honestly I'm far more concerned about the strength of my body now than perfection of texture. Plus, it was adorable when DS used to trace them with his fingers.
  • This is probably a stupid question but, how can you tell if you have stretch marks? Are they really prominent?

  • I have a ton of stretch marks from my daughter. They definitely do fade over time. I've embraced them.

You'll be able to feel/see the little indentations they make. Sometimes they're itchy at first. For a lot of people, they show up as red/pink/purple at first, then over time they'll fade to a shinier version of skin tone.
  • I got so many with my first pregnancy! I have to say that it took me a while to be comfortable in my new skin. After 2 years, this was the first summer I rocked a bathing suit and felt pretty good about it. I kept reminding myself with what my sister said to me...You notice them more than anyone else! Most people don't even notice they are there.
  • I already have them on my butt from my teen years. Apparently my body wasn't expecting the addition to my arse.

To help my tummy, hips, and breasts out I got a body oil that has good reviews online. If anyone is familiar please mention so.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • I didn't get stretch marks (I only got them on my belly) until after I gave birth and those things came up immediately! They've since faded tremendously and I really do look at them as a badge of honor. I don't even notice they're there.

I've had stretch marks on my lower belly right above my goods since peeing on a stick pretty much, they look like red squiggly lines @LadySamLady and will fade to lines that are slightly lighter than the rest of my skin sometime or another. Coconut oil has been a LIFE SAVER (I use it for everything anyway from washing my face to body lotion anyway, and intend to use it as "nipple cream" as well). When I get out of the shower I lather up my belly and breasts (since I'm sure they're next) with coconut oil to help with stretch marks and skin elasticity. One of my friends bought me the honest company belly butter and I do like that a lot also. I don't mind having stretch marks so much, I expected them after all with all the stretching my skin must do to accommodate baby and all that comes with carrying baby, but if I can help my skin out and keep more from showing than is necessary then I'm happy to do that.
  • I have stretch marks on my breasts, butt and thighs from my teens also, I developed almost overnight and the fast changes to my body caused them. They do fade and I've never had any of my past boyfriends or my husband notice them. Stay out of the sun/ use sunscreen and care for them as you would any scar and they will heal nicely. Just take care of yourself and try not to worry too much
  • I got stretch marks on my butt when I hit puberty and grew a giant one. They faded over time! But it is possible and I am sure they will only be accentuated by pregnancy.
