Who's game to kick start the holiday with a walk or a run? I'm jumping into a 5K TT with my family, hoping it will motivate me to start a workout routine of some sort. Who else is planning to do a walk/run on thanksgiving? Please post your pics here too!
Re: Turkey Trotters Unite!
You predict your finish time on your entry form. No watches or gps devices allowed.
The "winner" is the person closest to their predicted time.
That said, I'm not going to do it this year because it's about an hour away, can't use the stroller even for walking because of the trails. Maybe next year.
I'll try to get out and do a walk at least, but it'll depend on the weather here. Starting to get cold!!
I just did my first two post-pregnancy outdoor runs last week! I've been using the elliptical since about 6 weeks PP, but hadn't had time to actually get outside (ok, i admit, also it's hard to motivate myself to run outside in the heat of the NC summer, but the weather now is perfect).
I did 2.5 miles on Wednesday and was sore a few days afterwards but nothing too terrible, so i upped it to 3.5 miles Sunday. I was slow (I'm always slow, my PR in a Half is a 10:54 split, but this was extra slow, like 11:45-12 minutes/mile) but i didn't stop to walk at all. I can't run during the week very much because i leave for work while it's still dark out and don't finish my night duty with LO until it's dark again (i had Wednesday off last week, so i ran in the afternoon) but hopefully i can run again this Sunday and up it to 4-4.5 miles. My normal non-training routine used to be 3 5-milers a week, so i'd like to get comfortable with 5 miles at a time again, even if i can only do it once a week.
We have no Turkey Trot within a 45 minute drive, but the in-laws will be here for Thanksgiving, so i'm going to leave LO with Nana and run that morning on my own. :-)
Luckily it didn't start raining here until 11, so it was still nice. It's now 33 and still raining. I hope everyone had a great day!
Edited...I did do a a few walk breaks.
