Waiting To Do Something Checkin

Someone tried to bring this back a couple weeks ago, and I really liked it so I'm going to keep it going. I feel weird posting to the TWW since I'm way past 2 weeks of waiting :)

The Waiting to do Something thread is posted once a week (usually on Mondays) for those of us that experience long, extended cycles. Some of us are going through medicated cycles, some of us are going through testing, and some of us are just waiting...to do something! Anything!

1. Cycle/month:
2. CD:
3. Medicated?
4. What are you doing this cycle?
5. What's been going on?/What is pissing you off?!
6. GTKY: I'm looking for dinner ideas! What is you favorite thing to make for dinner or your best dish in general?

Me: 28 DH: 29

  • 1. Cycle/month: 1/2

    2. CD: 46

    3. Medicated? Nope

    4. What are you doing this cycle? Waiting for AF to get here so I can start temping

    5. What's been going on?/What is pissing you off?! I'm so frustrated with this cycle! I've always had long cycles, usually 36 days, but they have always been regular. The first month we start TTC AF decides not to show so I get excited and test BFN. I've never wanted AF to come so bad. :(

    6. GTKY: I'm looking for dinner ideas! What is you favorite thing to make for dinner or your best dish in general? I make a mean steak. Yumm.

  • Thanks for starting this up again! I like it too.

    1. Cycle/month: 3/2
    2. CD: 60
    3. Medicated? Not yet. I am starting Provera when I get home from work.
    4. What are you doing this cycle? All the normal things I had been doing before.
    5. What's been going on?/What is pissing you off?! I'm nervous about starting Provera, but I want my period to start again. I've never had a long cycle until now. Gyno also suggested Clomid after Provera, but I am iffy about taking it unmonitored. I am waiting to hear about that from the nurse.
    6. GTKY: I'm looking for dinner ideas! What is you favorite thing to make for dinner or your best dish in general?
I love crock pot meals. My favorite at the moment are buffalo chicken sliders. Just get 3-4 thawed chicken breasts, and put them in a lightly greased crock pot. Mix together your favorite buffalo sauce (the whole bottle) and a packet of ranch dressing mix. Pour the mixture over the chicken and let it simmer on low for 7 hours. Then shred the chicken. Add 2 tablespoons of butter and mix til melted. Broil bread of your choice for 2 minutes on low (I use King's Hawaiian hoagies). Put a piece of mozzarella cheese on the bread. Add meat. Put a drizzle of ranch or bleu cheese dressing on top of meat and serve! It's so easy and delicious.

  • 1. Cycle/month:  ?/3
    2. CD: 70 days since IUD removal
    3. Medicated? No
    4. What are you doing this cycle? Trying to keep it together!  (Though I'm not doing so great at that...)
    5. What's been going on?/What is pissing you off?!  I don't know if it is time to call my doctor to go in for further testing.  I know it could take a while after IUD removal for AF to return... but it feels like an eternity.
    6. GTKY: I'm looking for dinner ideas! What is you favorite thing to make for dinner or your best dish in general? I typically cook something healthy like turkey breast with roasted brussels sprouts or asparagus.  Now that it is getting colder outside I'll cook more soups.  (like chicken and kale soup with shiritake noodles or beef stew with sweet potatoes)
  • @NessMatthews - I would call your doctor. 70 days with no AF is definitely reason enough to call.

  • @megzb510, I'm definitely thinking of it.  But I'm worried about the cost.  Everything that comes up DH asks me if it can wait until January.  I have good insurance but everything adds up so quick!
  • I just checked my last message from my doctor actually, which she sent on 11/2.  She said if I don't get my period in a month or two, to see an RE.  Since it hasn't even been a month since she sent me that message, I'll try to be patient for a few more weeks I think.  And the waiting continues!!

    5. What's been going on?/What is pissing you off?! Effing FF is pissing me off! I already ranted about it in the Monday TWW. It took my CH away and now I have no idea what's going on. It sucks. It feels like my body is broken. :( It's CD 45 which is when I got AF last cycle. Every day is a guess now.

    6. GTKY: I'm looking for dinner ideas! What is you favorite thing to make for dinner or your best dish in general? I'm actually more of a baker. I leave the cooking to my husband. Oreo balls are my dish of choice.

@NessMatthews -have you had your annual visit yet? Those are usually free and you get to ask your doctor questions while they do you pap etc. I had my Mirena removed in August, had my annual in October. My doc has an email system where I can just reach out and email her securely. When I wasn't ovulating, I reached out via the email system and have been asking all my questions and she has been responding and ordering tests without me needing to call or see her. Or since you likely saw her to get the Mirena out, call the nurses line and see what the doctor suggests. They might want to see you or might order tests or prescription over the phone. Just some thoughts--I know waiting for AF is awful.

  • 1. Cycle/month: 1 if this one counts... / 3
    2. CD: I'm not pretending to know anything yet.
    3. Medicated? Not for anything related to this.
    4. What are you doing this cycle? Just sex when I can until AF comes around. Still hasn't happened since going off BCP (was on depo earlier this year, then a round of BCP so it could be a while.) After AF comes I'm doing all the things, probably.
    5. What's been going on?/What is pissing you off?!
The what's been going on part: I'm reupholstering the couch and ottoman (our most recent rescue pup ate them).
The what is pissing me off one: All the freaking attacks lately. It's so awful. I talked to DH about me possibly deploying for a year (I work as a contractor now, but am prior military). We'll see what happens.
    6. GTKY: I'm looking for dinner ideas! What is you favorite thing to make for dinner or your best dish in general?
Oh so many things! Best/favorite/most nostalgic: Made from scratch chicken n' dumplings. I make them more like a stew (basically I add some veggies to my recipe so it's well rounded).
My husband's favorite dinner that I make: French dip with au jus (made in under an hour thanks to my pressure cooker). So incredibly tender, you can pull it apart with plastic forks. Au jus is perfect every time.
Tonight I'm making homemade smokey chicken nuggets and fries.
By the way, I'm one of those "make everything thing from scratch" and hardly ever use a recipe type people. But a while back this one was given to me because I couldn't get my lasagna sauce perfected. It is basically the best thing I've ever had. You can use it for lots of Italian red/meat sauces (thicken it with paste, or thin it with a little water, add cream to make rosa sauce... endless possibilities).  https://allrecipes.com/recipe/23600/worlds-best-lasagna/

    3. Medicated? I took progesterone in late September to jump start my cycle after my post BC cycle was 111 days. AF came and went but now here I am on CD43 again with no AF. Sigh

    4. What are you doing this cycle? Wallowing in my confusion

    5. What's been going on?/What is pissing you off?! My body won't friggin cooperate! I quit BC in May because wanted to start trying in August. But then I had no cycle. I thought the progesterone would get us on track after September but clearly not. So, I have to wait until next week to make another appt with my GYN for early December. Meaning it'll probably be mid-December before we have a tangible shot at really trying again.

    6. GTKY: I'm looking for dinner ideas! What is you favorite thing to make for dinner or your best dish in general?
I make a pretty good lasagna with layers of noodles, meat sauce and ricotta and shredded cheeses. Yum!

    4. What are you doing this cycle?  Have only ovulated once since coming off BCP 8 months ago.  Last ovulation was in August so I am really hoping this cycle the clomid will get me back on track!
    5. What's been going on?/What is pissing you off?!  DH is a workaholic... I miss you!
    6. GTKY: I'm looking for dinner ideas! What is you favorite thing to make for dinner or your best dish in general?  I am awesome at making fish enchilada stacks!!  Tilapia, cheese, corn tortillas, black beans, green chili sauce, green onions, seasonings.
  • @DCHokiemom Are you going to take provera to start your period?  That would help speed the process along!

    1. Cycle/month: 1/2... I think?

    2. CD: 45

    3. Medicated? Bromocriptine, Provera (just started 2nd round on 11/15). And Clomid whenever AF decides to show up.

    4. What are you doing this cycle? Continuing temping & meds. Trying to stay positive about it all, but the waiting is tough. Keeping myself busy with other things so I don't think about it 24/7, which is starting to wear me down. So. Tired.

    5. What's been going on?/What is pissing you off?! Trying to adjust to DH's work schedule. It changes from days to nights every 2 months. I think with everything that was going on (no AF, family up for hunting every weekend, busy at work, etc...), this time around has been a struggle for me. Things are finally starting to feel normal again, after a few weeks of feeling off.

    6. GTKY: I'm looking for dinner ideas! What is you favorite thing to make for dinner or your best dish in general? We're big fans of breakfast for dinner. DH works weird hours, so it's a good, easy fall back.

Have you asked your doctor for Provera to jumpstart your period? I don't think there's any reason to see an RE if it's only been three months and you haven't yet tried Provera. IUD removal is notorious for taking a long time for AF to return (same with Depo). Once you take Provera and you "reset," you can then see how long your cycle is and if you O.
  • I've always just read everyone's posts in all of these forums, but this is the first time I am contributing! I think a post like this is perfect way to start. I've been TTC since December 2014... I've had very irregular periods and have been given Provera twice (July and August) to bring on a period. In September I decided to wait it out and see how long and if even AF  would come along on her own and she did on October 20th! I've been testing ovulation since September and I finally got what I think is a positive OPK on 11/8 so now I am in the loathsome TWW and I need some support so here I am!

    1. Cycle/month: ?/11

    2. CD: 29
    3. Medicated? Starting clomid next cycle after DH gets sperm analysis on 11/30
    4. What are you doing this cycle? Doing my best not to go insane and get some sleep at night.
    5. What's been going on?/What is pissing you off?! the fact that something I was fundamentally created to do is proving to be such a challenge and the though of maybe never having our own child is driving me mad.
    6. GTKY: The easier the better for me! DH usually cooks (I'm a lucky girl in that Dept. :)  but I like to break out the george foreman and make paninis--all sorts! Favorite is the caprese panini with multigrain bread, fresh mozz, fresh tomatoes and romaine lettuce with some balsamic vinegar and oil!
  • @Megzb510, I did end up messaging my doctor (I was just there for my annual at the end of October) and she called in a prescription of progesterone.  Fingers crossed it gets things started.

@OrangeEv, *hugs*  I understand feeling "broken" and its not a good feeling.  Try to stay positive!  You aren't alone, and things will happen for you.  Trying to be patient through all these emotions certainly isn't easy though.
  • @NessMatthews Yay! I'm glad you were able to work things out with your doctor. FX that resetting your cycle will help!!

  • @NessMatthews Thanks! I hope the Progesterone gets things started for you!
  • Thanks ladies! I'm really nervous... I read that when I do get AF it will prolly be really bad. Plus I haven't experienced it in 7 years so this all feels brand new to me again! In top of that, the timing couldn't be worse. Right when I should be expecting AF, I'll be doing a super intense workout certification all weekend. 16 hours of high intensity exercise! I just hope it waits until the Monday after. Fingers crossed!
  • 1. Cycle/month: 2/3
    2. CD: 36
    3. Medicated? no
    4. What are you doing this cycle? was using opks and sex EOD, I thought I ovulated on CD 20, but no period and neg test tells me that's not the case
    5. What's been going on?/What is pissing you off?! This is our send month ttc and 6th month off the pill.  The first 5 months I had 28-30 day cycles and my period came 14 days after positive OPK.  This month I had a positive OPK on cd 20, but no period.  I should have known better because I still had EWCM and a high cervix, but I figured OPKs had worked thus far.  I'm finally getting sore boobs, so I'm hoping my period will be here in a week or so.  Late ovulation would mean our timing was probably really bad, so I'm definitely not expecting to be PG, but I want my period to come so we can start trying again!
    6. GTKY: I'm looking for dinner ideas! What is you favorite thing to make for dinner or your best dish in general?
My super easy go to dinner is slow-cooker chicken tacos.  You just put 2 chicken breasts, a jar of salsa and a packet of taco seasoning in the slow cooker, let it cook on low or about 8 hours.  Shred the chicken and add whatever fixings you like.  It's so yummy and so easy!

I am not sure if this is the right place to put this, but since I am just waiting for my body to do something I deiced to post here :)

    5. What's been going on?/What is pissing you off?! Errg I am trying to be good and just wait for my AF to come back, but I slipped and unprotected sex last night. Dr said I am suppose to wait at least one cycle before TCC again but erggg I am soo frustrated right now. And it does not help it seems like all my friends are pregnant or just had a baby and they all ask me when are you having one..... And even my on students I teach are asking me that, I think they are all assuming I cant have one now.
    6. GTKY: I'm looking for dinner ideas! What is you favorite thing to make for dinner or your best dish in general? Mini turkey burgers with Gorgonzola in it to add some yummness to the turkey burger and home made sweet potato wedges with olive oil.
