My LO is 3.5 months old and I have been almost exclusively pumping since he was two weeks old. I have consistently been able to pump 24-28oz a day. When I returned to work a few weeks ago, I was getting less milk in each pumping session. I talked to my doctor and started taking Reglan to increase my supply. It made no change so I weaned off of it after almost two weeks. As soon as I stopped taking it, my supply crashed!! For the past 5 days, I get about 8oz in the entire day! I've tried everything to increase my supply (fenugreek, oatmeal, mothers milk tea, more water, power-pumping, more frequent and longer pumping sessions, new membranes for pump) but nothing is working. I'm telling myself it just takes time and to keep doing what I am doing. Has anyone everyone come back from a dramatic supply decrease? If so, how did you do it?
I didn't go through anything like that but I began formula supplementing at 6 weeks and had decided to wean. I changed my mind before I dried up and was able to get myself back to EBF, though I still supplement because I'm about to go back to work and that just makes it more doable. I got my supply back with pumping after a nursing session, milk maid tea, oatmeal, and lots of water. I know you only pump but is it possible to try baby at the breast? I don't know if a baby will take a breast after being on bottles so long but it may be worth a shot. Babies can get out more than pumps do. If that doesn't work talk to the doctor or LC.
