Hello everyone! I've been lurking for awhile and appreciate reading everyone's experiences - they have been really helpful! A little background - I am 31 and my husband is 33, we have been married since 10/2013 and I went off BC in 01/2014. My OBGYN is awesome and started running tests after 2 months of no cycle and I was initially diagnosed with hyperprolacinemia and prescribed 2.5mg of bromocriptine, which brought my numbers into the "normal range" but still no cycle. After a few months of trying Provera to see if that would help, I was diagnosed with PCOS and my husband had an SA with borderline low motility so we were referred to a RE in June of this year. We jumped right into an IUI cycle using Clomid 50mg and trigger shot which resulted in BFN. Round two was again with Clomid 50mg and trigger shot, which resulted in a BFP but was chemical with an initial beta of 12.7. Just finished round three, which was a roller coaster. Started on 50mg of Clomid plus estrace right away to try and thicken my lining (it had been pretty thin the previous two times) but my body didn't react to that and the follicles stopped maturing. Stopped the estrace and went on 100mg of Clomid (which was a bear) and finally that produced two mature follicles.
I had some minor spotting over the weekend on 12dpIUI and was dreading it was AF but it was one small brown spot on a panty liner and then a little pink when I wiped. My husband convinced me to POAS after getting home from a wedding at 1:30am and I was flabbergasted when it came back positive!!! So of course I had to take another one as soon as I woke up in the morning and yup, still positive!
Went for my beta this morning and just got the call from the nurse....hcg level is only 50 and she said they like to see at least 150 at this point. While it could have implanted late, I need to prepare that it is another chemical pregnancy. I go back Wednesday for a repeat and am praying that it doubles. If not, I hope it is at least quick to decrease and doesn't leave me in limbo (hopefully that's not a bad way of thinking).
This process just screws with your emotions and you can be on the highest high one minute thinking everything is finally happening only to have everything change with one little phone call. If this ends up not being a healthy pregnancy, I think my hubby and I might take a break for the holidays, have a serious sit down with our RE and then move onto IVF. Thankfully my insurance covers half of fertility treatments (with a max that I can't remember right now) and we both have pretty good jobs so while it will stretch us financially, we should be able to swing it.
While I hate that any of us have to be part of this group, I am very thankful for the resources and knowing there are people out there going through the same situations.
