Constipation in 2 month old- Soy Formula

So LO has had lots of issues, dog allergy, milk allergy, blood in urine. Well we switched to soy formula and she's been doing great on it. Well this morning we woke up and I went to change her and she had 2 hard balls of poop. Like a pasty pale green color. She doesn't seem to be constipated though I know hard poop balls means she is. What can we do for it? Do we have to call the dr? We pretty much live there now, so I'd like to avoid going back if I could.

Re: Constipation in 2 month old- Soy Formula

  • Ended up going to the Drs for blood in here stool, she's still constipated. Dr said to just watch her and bring her back if there's more blood... My poor baby, she's had such a tough time already!

  • This happened to us. My guy has milk intolerance so they switched him to Soy formula. He struggles to poo and has pain. Our dr told us put a teaspoon of dark karo syrup mixed with formula in his bottle every other feeding. It seems to work so far...let me know what happens and if you guys get better advise :-) Hope she gets better!
  • @troopersmom they told us to add prune juice to her bottles, and that seems to be working fine. But if we don't add it to atleast two bottles a day she gets plugged again. But soy has been so good! She just has a lot of sensitivities.
  • Stay away from soy. Nutramigen and alimentin formula is wonderful for milk allergies!
  • @carrell1990 we tried both alimentums- similac and Enfamil's, and he projectile vomits them, gets a horrible rash, and has blood in his stool. Soy is the only thing he keeps down and doesn't have bloody stool with.
  • If your LO is constipated, I suggest to take her to the chiropractor. Mine didn't poop for 5 days and after I took him there he started back to his regular 1 poop a day.
  • We use a chiropractor also and it works wonders. We've had our little one adjusted since he was 3 weeks old for GER. The doctor also suggested we start adding 1tsp. Of beechnut organic oatmeal for every one Oz of formula to LO bottle. This was prior to discovering he also has a milk protein allergy. When we switched to soy the doctor wasn't concerned about constipation due to the fiber from the oatmeal. I forgot to note the reason for the organic was because it didn't contain soy to constipated him. He has been very regular and has had no issues now. But the doctor said if there were signs of constipation to give him baby juice 1-2oz. 1-2 times a day. Not sure if any of this will help just thought I would share our situation. Good luck!
