When are you going to tell your kids?

We found out today that we are expecting our 3rd baby. We have a 9 yo Girl and 5 yo boy. Hubby and I aren't great secret keepers...hence why "we're not telling anyone" turned into him texting his 4 good friends. Lol we also don't like to keep things from our kids. I know I won't make it out of my first trimester without my daughter figuring it out. When do you all plan on telling your older kids?

ill b 12 weeks on 23rd Dec were gonna tell dd 3.5 and sd 11 on Christmas morning then tell our families. the plan is to hold ut that long anyway.. congrats

We plan to tell them on thanksgiving. I'll be 8 wks then and my kids are 4 & 7 yrs. We want to also tell family at thanksgiving so we are going to tell the kids first and have them be part of the reveal. I think waiting any longer for us would be too hard. It's so hard now not to talk about it when they are around, I'm sure by now they have even caught us saying a few things.

My daughter is just under 3 so if we tell her now she won't quite get it. And may spill the beans to others before we're ready. We will probably start explaining in early 2016, especially in February when we have the anatomy scan & should learn the sex. I am sure we will get her a book that helps explain it.

Closer to 12 weeks. We told ds with our first loss right before we miscarriaged and explaining that to him was awful. I was 8 weeks then.

My SIL told my niece (2) right after I got a positive test. I wasn't planning on telling DD (3) for a while but you never know what may come out of a 2 year olds mouth and we spend a lot of time with them. So I guess sooner rather than later.

We're thinking we'll tell him next week and then our parents right after. We're good with telling our siblings at Thanksgiving, but we won't announce to extended family or friends until 1st trimester is over.
We got DS a cute big brother shirt to wear when we visit our parents next weekend.

Christmas eve before we tell family! I got a shirt that says wish list: unicorn, pony, skateboard and a little sister. As a hint for family on xmas eve.
