2nd Trimester

Suddenly sick at 22 weeks

I never really had morning sickness, as much as it was just nausea after eating or randomly through the day, but that ended around 14 weeks. I am 22 weeks as of a few days ago and suddenly I'm starting to feel sick after meals and through out the day. I never throw up, but it's very concerning that it seems that being sick has returned. I check the baby's heart beat on the doppler for a few seconds everyday and it's fine, plus I still have movements here and there like usual. My question is, has anyone ever had returning sickness after it has ended? Or is this normal? My tummy has also been feeling very tender as well.

Re: Suddenly sick at 22 weeks

  • I'm not as far along as you (16w), but do find that some days I'll randomly be nauseated by everything all over again. Then it will be fine again for another few days, and I'll have a bad day again. I can't speak to WHY it may be happening, but can say you're definitely not alone.

  • 14 weeks today and I have been more nauseous this weekend than I was all first tri. Assuming it's "normal" and nothing to worry about.

  • I'm assuming it's normal since I've only ever thrown up in the second trimester.
  • I was diagnosed with heart burn but it presents like nausea. I was puking daily until 17 weeks when my dr started asking me some in depth questions about it. Now that I'm further along I have days where I feel nauseous all day and I think frequently it's heart burn related. I take zantec daily as prescribed by my dr. Obviously I'm not saying this is it, but it's one thing to consider.

When I'm not feeling well I have milk, pudding, icecream or cereal to see if that helps.

  • I have the same thing going. Never had morning sickness or vomiting in the first trimester. I maybe had a couple days of feeing nauseous. I'm 20 weeks now and for the past couple weeks I've been getting nauseous a lot after eating. I always heard you feel better in the second trimester but I feel a little worse!
  • Every now and then I still have moments of nausea. It doesn't last long but it can happen at any point throughout your pregnancy.

  • Nausea throughout pregnancy is completely normal, especially after meals. I would suggest eating more meals, but keeping them much smaller. Otherwise, talk to your doctor about meds. I'm 21 weeks and still on my anti-nausea medication. Nausea does not mean something it wrong. It's due to either being too full (at this stage) or hormone fluctuations.
