Heavy bleeding @ 9wks, strong heartbeat during US...

I had heavy bleeding earlier this week, but the US showed heartrate of 180 and LO is measuring right on target still. I'm not sure if the bleeding increases risk of miscarriage despite everything being ok on US afterwards. First timer here and of course the struggle is real after seeing that bright red mess.

Re: Heavy bleeding @ 9wks, strong heartbeat during US...

  • As long as everything is normal bleeding shouldn't increase miscarriage odds. I've been bleeding, sometimes bright red, sometimes heavily, for 4 weeks. Doctors can't find any reason why, baby is healthy as can be with a HR of 170 and perfect growth. Ive had 4 US due to bleeding and all have been normal. As long as it's not coming from inside the cervix (which it's not or they would know and tell you) and the doctor is worried, then try not to worry. I know it's tough to do but you'll drive yourself crazy with the what ifs

I had a lot of bleeding for a few weeks. Ultrasound showed baby was perfect size and heartrate of 186 which was considered a little high for 8.5 weeks. I had multiple vaginal infections.. Those can cause bleeding and higher fetal heart rates, but harmless to fetus (unless you have a UTI, those can be more serious).
    Good luck!

  • I don't know the statistics. Many women bleed for various reasons during pregnancy. Good luck to you!
