Anterior cervix 28 weeks?

Hi ladies, so I felt my vagina has been rather swollen since 24 weeks or so turns out today have pelvic exam I have a closed and still firm anterior cervix which I can feel right at the entrance, doctor said it's still up enough to be considered normal and is nothing to worry about - it's not dilated. However many people are saying online it means your cervix is ready for labour and that means you are just around the corner... Just want to know if anyone else has been told they have an anterior cervix much before it's time to go into labour and if it really means I will or if it's just "one of those things". She said just not to prod up in there to leave it alone but that intercourse was still safe.. Anyway let me know as I trust my doctor yet want some real life examples thanks so much!
