Stressed and worried

I'm due nov 30 and I just found out my dr will be out of town and the hospital I really wanted to deliver at my midwife can't go to and now I have to switch and all my plans are down the drain and i just don't know what to expect because some random dr that I don't know is going to deliver my baby

Re: Stressed and worried

  • If it helps you feel any better this is actually pretty common in a lot of places. Both my pregnancies have/will be with doctors I didn't know. My first was at a civilian hospital and they try to have you "meet" all the OB's atleast once throughout prenatal appointments, but whoever is on call that day is who delivers your baby and that just happened to be one of the two I didn't see and meet yet at my appointment. To be fair all he did was catch her and stitch me up, the nurses did most of the work. This time I'm at a military hospital and have a family practice doctor during my pregnancy and then when I deliver I will have one of the OB's on call and I haven't met any of them yet, but again I've been told it's the nurses who make the huge impact. All I can recommend is have a birth plan explaining all possibilities incase anything happens. Your going to be ok!

  • I'm in Canada but it is common here too!!! Doctors can't be on call all the time. I know it is scary when expectations change, but try to remember that no matter what - you'll have your LO at the end of it all! ❤️ You'll push through these stresses!
  • Yeah I talked to my midwife and she said she's guna makes sure she's gunna be there so I feel a whole lot better
