Cystic Fibrosis

I decided to do optional genetic testing and it turns out I am a cystic fibrosis carrier. I am SO shocked. DH is going to get tested now so we can see if he is a carrier as well. I know even if he is the baby only has a 25% chance of having it but it still is worrisome.

Anyone else here a carrier?

    I'm not but I know someone who is and her daughter does have it. She works hard to keep her weight up and they have recently started the vest treatments. Overall she is doing amazing and developing as she should. I know that has to be scary. I don't want to scare you, but it is a reality.

    Try not to get too worried before you find out if your husband is a carrier. It's good that you both are finding out now, that way you can educate yourselves and prepare for life with potentially raising a child with cystic fibrosis. If your husband is a carrier, there is a 75% chance the baby won't have cystic fibrosis.

    Find something to do to keep you and your husband busy until you get his results. I hope that he isn't a carrier!!!!

    I am a carrier. I found out during my first pregnancy and then my husband was tested. Turns out he's not a carrier so all is good. Hoping you get the same results.

    I posted on here a few months back about it and got some very nice replies. I found out I'm a carrier. It was a total shock since no one in my family has it and neither of my parents were aware. Just waiting on his test results. Good luck to you!

    I'm not a carrier for cystic fibrosis but I am a carrier for a few genertic issues....waiting to see if DH is too. T&P that your DH isn't a carrier.

    @stisnd6 Yeah my mom was so shocked too. There is no family history at all of CF and neither of my parents knew that they are/could be carriers. Hoping you get good news soon!

    @izzyp25 @stisnd6 I am a carrier as well, I am trying to stay positive until my husband finds out, he is going in for his test on Monday, my parents were blindsided as well and didn't know that they could be carriers, good luck to you both!
