Hi, can implantation bleeding last for more than 5 days? My menstrual cycle was regular. On thuesday i started bleeding and still is. My normal period had to start on 21st of november. Is it implantation bleeding or menstrual period that started?
1. Implantation bleeding resembles spotting. It does not get heavier as the days go by.
2. Implantation bleeding usually lasts shorter than a regular period. One to two days being most common.
3. Implantation bleeding usually occurs anywhere from 6 to 12 days past ovulation, assuming you had sex during your fertile window.
4. Implantation bleeding is often pink or rusty brown. It is rarely red.
Are you tracking your cycles? It sounds like you O'd earlier than you thought it you are having your period. If you are not pregnant head over to the TTGP board. Those ladies are a load of information!

Sorry i made a mistake. My last period started on the 24th of october and ended on the 28th of October. My next period should start on the 21ste of November. So i just started bleed 10days before my period. Bleeding is not as heavy as my normal period and the colour also not the same as normal period. I just don't understand why it is lasting so long. Very weird!
Thank for the comment Jules. I feel better! Really hope I am pregnant! Me and my husband trying to get pregnant for quite some time.
I know it's hard to not get your hopes up, but do prepare yourself for the possibility that it may not be implantation bleeding (if it is, then yay! but know that there are a number of reasons for breakthrough bleeding between periods and fluke/irregular periods).
I honestly didn't think that it was implantation bleeding this time around. I was using light tampons and had even told DH that it hadn't happened that month.
Also, FWIW: with my first, the day after the bleeding stopped (the day I expected my period) I got my BFP - hadn't tested prior to that. With this one, I didn't know exactly when to expect my period as it was only my third cycle off Mirena and my 2 previous cycles were irregular. Though, the day I tested and got my BFP, was 3 days before I was guessing my period might show up AND I was actually still bleeding/ spotting that day.
Implantation bleeding only occurs in about 15% of women and it usually lasts anywhere from a few minutes to a day or so. If it has lasted 5+ days, I would tend to think it is your period, not implantation, but only a pregnancy test can tell. If it is implantation, you wont be able to get a positive on a urine test for 5-6 days.

This exactly. I've only had implantation bleeding once (on my 6th viable but 7th pregnancy) and it was some light spotting for maybe an hour. What you're experiencing sounds like a period but good luck either way.

Honestly there is absolutely no way to know until you are able to take a pregnancy test. Most women only know it's implantation bleeding in hindsight. I would say it sounds like you just started your period early. It probably does happen but implantation bleeding doesn't usually last that long. Good luck!

With my first, I experienced implantation bleeding for 6 days (brown, old blood).
With this one, I experienced implantation bleeding for 6-7 days (red, light)
- Implantation bleeding is RARE and can only be determined once you get a BFP.
- Implantation bleeding for more than 1-3 days is extremely rare
- We cannot tell you if it is your period or if it is implantation bleeding.
