What happened to my all night sleeper

My son used to sleep from 7:30- about 5:30 in the morning, recently he has been waking up at 3 or 4 and then again at 7-7:30 he drinks 6oz before bed . Should I change that to 8oz? Ftm and I'm not really sure how formula works yet I've only been supplementing for a couple of weeks . I don't wanna over feed him

Re: What happened to my all night sleeper

  • He is going through the 4 month sleep regression. Babies start to have another rem cycle in there sleep like adults. Give him a little time and he should be back to his normal schedule.

  • Yep sounds like 4 month sleep regression like pp said. My dd has had some HORRIBLE nights lately
  • Like previous post says its not how much they eat before bed its sleep regression. Fortunately our babies will grow out of it! It's just a phase
  • Does the 4 month sleep regression get better? How long does it last. We too have had some terrible nights lately and am worried it now the new norm. I really hope not.
  • I think we are finally nearing the end of the sleep regression. It's been about 2 1/2 weeks, but the first week was the worst! You will survive!
  • I read somewhere that it normally lasts about 2 weeks but could go longer
  • But then do they go back to sleeping through the night ? What do I do when he wakes up just comfort him or offer him another feed ?
  • So happy you posted about this, we have been going through the same thing...it's awful! Our lo has been sleeping through the night since she was 2 months old, but this last week has been awful- waking up during the night and waking up every time we put her down after falling asleep in our arms (which is all she does lately)...Glad to hear it will end soon.
  • From what I understand normal sleeping habits are likely to resume eventually...of course I admit, sometimes I think all this research is a load of crap - every baby is different and they all seem to do what they want, when they want! Lol

My dd had me up from 4:30- almost 7 this morning. I fed her when she first woke up but put her back in the rock n play immediately. She cooed and talked and fussed a little, but I never took her back out. I kept offering her pacifier and patting her belly. Eventually she drifted back to sleep.
  • mine's been in sleep regression mode for about 3 weeks, not really any sign of it letting up yet!

  • We are in week 5! I am so exhausted. Up every hour and a half at night...I am seriously hoping this ends soon. I don't know what to do at this point
  • Thankfully I think we're through this! It was about a week and a half of up every two hours. I would feed him sometimes if he wouldn't be soothed back to sleep.
  • We've have going through this for almost 3 weeks and she doesn't even turn 4 months until Friday!! I sure hope she was just going through it early and that it ends soon. She used to sleep straight through from 10-5. Now she whines every couple hours to be soothed and wakes at 3 for a feeding. I would hate for this to be the new norm!! Have been trying to stretch out the 3 am feeding and just rock and soothe her till around 4 then feed to try and get her closer to that 5am mark again.
  • So happy others are going through this well not happy you're dealing with it, it sucks. Happy I'm not going crazy and it happens kind of thing. I'm so frustrated it takes me an hour of boobing to get baby boy back to sleep and some days longer after he's only been asleep 2-3 hours then he's up every hour and a half after I finally get him to sleep. He used to do a 6-9 hour stretch have one short 5-10 min feed to soothe him back to sleep and then not up for another 2-3 hours. I'm so tired all the time my hubby teases me for my mombie moments. Hubby works 5 days 10 hour shifts and helps on the weekend with taking him when he wakes up while I get a bit more rest thank goodness and I make sure he gets proper sleep during the week. But its so rough! I feel for you.
  • Ohhhh my gosh, I am going through this right now. Baby is waking up every 1-2 hours every night; it started around Halloween. Really hoping it lets up soon!! Mommy needs a break.
