Gift ideas for new Dad?

I'm trying to think of something sweet and sentimental to bring along to the hospital...any thoughts?

  • I think it's hard to give a sentimental gift without baby being here. You could give a picture frame for his office or something he can fill with a picture later. My first was a girl and I found a cute book about a dad of a daughter but just gave him that when we found out the sex. Maybe a keychain? If he is into gold or a sport maybe something engraved. I think the card idea may be the best with his favorite snack for while at the hospital.
  • We aren't doing gifts for each other for the birth. But for Christmas I got SO a few daddy/baby board books because we want to read to him from day one. I also want to have a keychain made with the baby's initials and a little saying so he can carry around something from his son everywhere he goes.
  • I made a daddy to be diaper bag...filled a backpack diaper bag with lots of different essentials and a note to explain each one....I can't take any credit tho, I found it on Pinterest
  • Cute ideas! You guys are thinking along my thought process...sweet but not expensive. Thank you!
  • It may seem silly, but my husband loves Reese's... And our Wal-Mart has just started stocking giant half-pound Reese's Peanut Butter cups in the Christmas section.

I picked one up for him today as a little surprise gift for when we're in the hospital -- I'll wrap it in a little gift bag along with some other "survival kit" stuff that I sneak into his bag for the hospital and have a card/note with it.
  • @MerBot....adorable!! I'm sure he will feel super special!! :)
  • I ordered my hubby a shirt tonight that says Barrett's dad, est 2015. Thought it would be super cute in hospital pics.

  • I'm getting my DH a nice grown up backpack (from Eddie Bauer) that can double as a manly diaper bag for Christmas. Last year he got the carry on size duffle-bag in the same collection and he really likes it so I think he will like the backpack for more frequent use.

English is not my DH's mother tongue so I got a print for the nursery that says "'x' means I love you" in his mother tongue.

I've also looked for some baby gear that appeals to his interests, my DH gets excited when he finds a frog or hedgehog so I got a wubbanub with a frog and am looking at a couple small baby things with hedgehogs. I will probably also get baby something from our college (we met in college).

  • I was just going to write a thank you note for all his support and help during the pregnancy.
  • I'm giving my husband a daughter.

I really love the giant Reese's idea though!
