Heaviness

Hello all. I'm wondering if anyone else experienced this.

Towards the end of the day, I've been feeling a heaviness in my uterus especially when on my feet all day. Also when I sit, I feel it as well.
I'm in the process of transferring to another doctor so I won't have the chance to ask her until the end of the month.

  • I haven't felt this in a while, but felt it a lot around 6-7 weeks. Don't know if my brain just recalibrated how it thinks my uterus should feel or if something specific was going on then, but I know exactly what you're talking about!

Also 13 weeks and have had several feelings of "heaviness" along with every other cramp, ache and pain you could possibly think of. My doctor told me its all normal due to all the changing and stretching your body goes through. If you think about it, it makes sense. Not only has your uterus doubled in size but it's also holding a growing baby. That causes us to feel and experience all sorts of crazy sensations. But if your worried then bring it up with your doctor or call the nurse line to put your mind at ease.
  • Yes. This is one of the reasons why you see many pregnant women holding their bumps-- they get heavy! And just like anything else at the end of the day that feels heavier, it's pretty normal for your uterus to feel heavy too especially as the pregnancy progresses. Like pp said, at 13 weeks your uterus is already doubled. If it's bothering you, or you're feeling crampy, try drinking water and putting your feet up-- or laying of your left side for a while to increase bloodflow to the uterus.

  • I started noticing that feeling this week. It's such a strange feeling...but I'll take it!!
  • Yep, normal. If it's bugging you, your body is telling you it's time to rest. The heavy feeling is your growing uterus and baby putting pressure on your pelvic floor. Much more heaviness ahead!
  • I feel the heaviness too at 14w3d, and for the past week or so my pelvic bone has been aching a lot. I remember this with DS so I know it's normal moving and stretching, but it is still super uncomfortable.
