Acne Care?

What's everyone doing about skin care/acne treatment or what are your plans? With DS I didn't realize you shouldn't use salicylic acid until near the end. Even then with him I broke out badly on my back and shoulders. I see this happening already with #2 so any skin care regimin advice is welcome!

Re: Acne Care?

  • Have you tried coconut oil? I've always had bad skin and coconut oil has done me wonders. I use a mild cleanser (Cetaphil), and then I use coconut oil as a moisturizer. I massage it in my skin for like a minute and then I wipe it off with a towel and go to bed. In the morning all I use is hot water/wash cloth and a mild moisturizer. I've never seen my skin more clear

  • I used coconut oil all the time last pregnancy and really need to start doing so again. Wash, dry, coconut oil, and dab off with a Kleenex so it's not shiny!
  • My coworker's wife made a coffee scrub with coconut oil, honey and vanilla for my H for his eczema and I tried it on my face on a whim and it worked really well. I know, I know, caffeine, but I cut out coffee and limit myself to one tea OR soft drink a day and I only left it on for less than a minute. Another coworker told me later that day that I had "pregnancy glow" which was an improvement over oily acne and bloat so I'll take it. I'm wondering if it was just the coconut oil in it though after reading the replies.
  • I started using Neutrogena Naturals purifying cleanser and it has definitely helped and my skin feels great after washing. I had been using proactive + before conceiving and was still getting the occasional breakout.
  • Thanks for the tips! I will def try coconut oil. Aloe vera has helped me in the past too

  • I've been using face wash with charcoal. It's been amazing. The new acne that pops up each day goes away within a day, and it is helping to control all the excess oil. There are several different brands at Sprouts.
  • I started using tea tree oil, which I had heard a lot of people say works, but it didn't for me. I am now using Belli skin care products and while my skin isn't perfect, it's way better.
