Unbearable lower abdomen and leg pain

I'm exactly 39 weeks and I've been having contractions in my legs and groin for weeks now, but tonight the pain has taken become unbelievably worse. The pain is in my thighs and radiates down the back of my legs all the way to my feet. Why in the world would I be having pain in my legs? It seems to happen when the baby is moving and possibly hits some nerve. Gosh it's terrible though. I always wanted to be the one to tell people being pregnant isn't that bad and don't let the horror stories scare you but dang. This time has almost killed me.

  • If you're having that bad of pain and you don't know what's causing it, I suggest contacting your doctor today.

This^^^ internet strangers cannot diagnose anyone. Call your doctor.

The pain I get down my thigh and legs is sciatica. Not sure what exactly you're feeling though. As others said, call your doctor to make sure everything's alright.

  • I've been telling the doctor about it at each visit. She does not seem concerned. Was not looking for a diagnosis, just encouragement.

Well I apologize. I must have misunderstood your question "why in the world would I be having pain in my legs?"
To me, that read like you were asking us for our opinions or a diagnosis.

If your doctor isn't concerned at this point, then you shouldn't be too worried about it. I'm sorry I can not give any encouragement as I've never experienced this myself.
  • It sounds like "Lightning Crotch" and i have been getting it too! When bubba moves his head it hits a nerve and intense pain in my vagina and down one leg. Google it but definitely talk to your Dr if your really concerned! x
  • Hang in there....you're so close!!!!  Just a few more days and you'll have a beautiful baby :-)

  • You can do it! So close to finish line. I haven't had this either, but that doesn't mean we can't continue to encourage one another :-)
