We're stuck between the name's Liliana and Arianna, or Lilia and Aria for our twin girls. My mom suggested we name them Liliana and Arianna with the nicknames Lilia and Aria. I really like that idea. What do you all think??
The two -anna sounding endings and the two -ia sounding endings are too matchy IMO. I would pick one of the longer names and one of the shorter names, probably Liliana and Aria. I think it helps distinguish between them a little more.
I think that the ending of the names are confusing to me.
Liliana - Lily-on-uh
Arianna - Ar-ee-anne-uh
To me, I always assume that "ana" is the "on-uh" pronunciation, and "anna" is "Anne-uh". If you had the Arianna spelled Ariana, then I would assume that it is pronounced "Ad-ree-on-uh".
They don't end the same to me, but they are too close, too matchy-matchy. If you are dead set on the names, I think using the full names, and just calling them nicknames is fine. However, that is IF you even like those full names. You could just name them Lilia and Aria to begin with if those are the names that you love. Those names are really matchy for me as well, but some people like that for twins.
I love Lilianna and Aria is great. Not a fan of Arianna. So I would go with Lilianna and Aria and nickname Lilianna to Lily if you want to. I don't see why they have to match exactly.
I actually meant Ariana, my phone auto corrects it to Arianna. I do read Ana and Anna differently. I thought I could get away with the matchy names for twins but I guess not lol.
They are nice names but I am not a fan of matchy twin names either, but some people like that. Is your name Tatiana? Tatiana, Liliana, and Ariana is way too much ana in one family for my taste!
Re: Twins: full name or nickname?
Liliana was on our list for dd.
