Can anyone explain to me what limitations mean regarding babies sex????? I did the harmony test at 13 weeks and the doctor told me the sex came back xy with limitations. I've been going crazy looking this up online and I can't find anything on this.
I seriously thought this was going to be about limits on how much sex you can have. Did you ask your doctor? I didn't find out the sex on my Harmony test so I'm not sure.
I did he said it was because I had a previous boy and that it could of picked up his Y chromosome..... But, I was on another board and they were telling me that this is absurd. And that this test is 99% accurate but according to the doctor this test is fairly new and no test is accurate. I basically should of asked if anyone else experienced this
No, it's not absurd. You dont have a Y chromosome but you may have some of your previous son's dna floating around inside you. Research shows that even after their birth some of your child's dna can be left behind. I think this is what your doctor was trying to reference. It could be giving a false positive on a Y chromosome for this baby.

Interesting. I didn't know that was possible.
I have no experience but soxfan's explanation sounds reasonable. If your doctor was worried about it they would have told you.

You should definitely take the word of internet strangers over your doctor said no one ever.
The test looks at the free cell DNA in your body. Since you can have free cell DNA remain in your blood for decades after you give birth, and since you've already had a boy, the test cannot determine the sex of your current baby.
