A glimmer of hope **child mentioned

Some of you may want to punch me in the face reading this but this is what got me through today...

My new 'schooling' puts me in contact with newborns and their parents.  I met a beautiful couple that told me their story of successfully getting pregnant with their first child using IVF after several years TTC due to low sperm count and low AMH, including diagnosis of Diminished Ovarian Reserve.  They were only able to harvest and therefore implant 1 single egg.  Their son (that egg) was born 3 years ago to the day.  About 6 months ago, the mother was feeling very run down and because she was told she had only 1 egg, no periods and told there was no way she would ever conceive - no dr. would bother with a pregnancy test.  Well, fast forward she was in fact pregnant.  16 weeks pregnant.  They were shocked and scared and curious, etc.  But most of all, they were happy.
It was a beautiful story told and heard with tears.
I just wanted to tell it to you all in case one of you also needed to hear this today.

    Thank you!!

The more I learn about diminished reserve, the more I see that doctors aren't entirely sure what it means.  Fewer eggs, sure, but all you need is one.
Me- 39 (turning 40 in April), TTC for the first time ever (since Jan 2015), low ovarian reserve
Married 3/14/14 to my wonderful wife, but her sperm count is rather low
TTC with frozen donor sperm and science

    7 IUIs, 7 BFNs.
2 IVF attempts, both cancelled and converted to IUI, both BFNs.
Decided that my tired old ovaries are ready to retire.
Next step- reciprocal IVF, using my wife's eggs, my uterus!
fresh 5 day transfer (2 embryos) 4/17/17- BFP!
Identical twins "due" 1/2/17 (but anticipated arrival sometime December)
