Hair color safe??

I'm about 7 weeks pregnant and want to color my hair.I've heard its unsafe and I've heard its ok??I only want to color it one time for the fall...any ideas if it'll harm the baby or not??

My doctor recommends against hair coloring in the first trimester and then says to limit it in the 2nd and 3rd trimester.

I heard it's not supposed to touch the scalp. Which can be hard unless you plan to match your root. I'd avoid first trimester if possible.
