Is the answer your doctor gave you not good enough? I'm confused...
I think the "Anything else?" at the end of her question is meant to inquire whether or not we, as her pregnant peers, know of anything ELSE that is safe to use while pregnant, or perhaps things that are non-medical.
I have no medication suggestions, but I suggest tea and a warm bath. You can take Tylenol for your headache. And get plenty of sleep! I hope you feel better soon.
Thanks guys! I got the neti pot, and have been sticking to hot water with lemon and honey, and Tylenol. I'm starting to feel a bit better, hopefully I can get this bug quick.
PS: sudafed and robitusin are category C drugs for pregnant woman and aren't recommended. I asked my local pharmacists when I was there. The receptionist at my Obgyn recommended it, not my actual Doctor. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.
Most OBs do feel comfortable with a minimum amount of Sudafed or Robitussin. I know my OB is fine with it for a severe cold. My OB is also okay with limited cough drops (hard center.)
BUT... We all need to go by our own doctor's recommendations.
I had a bad cold last time and a neti pot really helped. I refused to take sudafed or anything like that because of my loss history. But a neti pot first thing in the morning and about an hour before bed helped me get through it. I also slept sitting up...which sucks, but it was better than getting stuff more lodged in my sinuses/ears.
