Internal Clock needs to be reset!

I can't sleep between midnight-2amish.  I sleep VERY well between 10am-1pm when I should be up being useful. I also feel the need to "tidy".  I think this may be what is known as nesting but why can't I nest at normal hours? Also I feel the need to do less useful tidying. For example, I have laundry to put away but I just spent an hour making a list of addresses my mother will need when she comes to help with the baby.

Re: Internal Clock needs to be reset!

  • I totally feel you. The last week or so I cannot sleep between 11pm-4:30am. After that I can usually sleep thru until 8-9. I may go out for a few hours then I wanna knock right back out from like 2pm-5pm though I usually try to stay away instead. But yes, I'll wake up at 2am ready to start my day and do stuff around the house. I feel so crafty. But I make myself try to sleep "normally"

  • Same here! I'm up most nights from midnight to 3am!! Then I fall good and sleep and my alarm goes off for work. My guess is that it's just my body getting ready for baby...
  • Wake up at 11, 2, and 6

    Shoot me in the head.
  • I'm in bed by 10pm, but definitely wake up a few times. Baby is setting my clock already.
  • I start to get tired at around 7pm but force myself to stay awake. Then, at 11pm when everyone else is going to bed, I'm wide awake. I usually fall asleep at 1am, wake every 2-3 hours to pee and sleep the best from 7am-10am. I woke up at 6am the other day and finally got up at 7:30am, had a shower, snuggled up with DH in bed after and promptly fell back to sleep until 11am, haha! Oops!
  • I always attribute this to your body prepping you for being up at all hours after the baby gets here. Certainly doesn't make it any less annoying or disruptive but that explanation (whether accurate or not) is what has kept me sane through three pregnancies with interrupted sleep schedules.
  • Fun story: my mother woke up around 2:00 am starting about three weeks before she had my sister and would clean. The last two days before she was born, mom had us stay up until 2 detail cleaning the house (we were 9 and older). She had us detail clean cabinets, the fridge, the brick around the fireplace, the grout of the tiles in the shower and kitchen. She even had us bleach the top of the canned food like the baby was at risk for Botulism. We drew the line when she told us to start opening jars in the fridge and wiping the rims. Lol. It was insanity and thank goodness she let us sleep in.
  • Do you ladies have the urge to "organize" when you wake up in the middle of the night? And if so do you indulge or try to stay in bed?
  • I'm up to pee around 4 times per night, but I'm usually out from 11 pm to 6:30 am. I was never a morning person before and would gladly sleep from 11 pm to 9 or 10 am. One of things I attribute to my ability to sleep are the guided meditations and guided relaxations we do most nights. You can find them on YouTube, Spotify, and some free apps. They can be cheesy sometimes, but sometimes it's the pretending to walk through a pretty forest that knocks me out. DH is a counselor, so he's a big advocate for meditation and mindfulness. Could be something that helps! At least get a little sleep now. :)
  • I try to go to bed between 10-11pm but that is when baby starts kicking like crazy and typically continues kicking until between 1-3am. My DH usually sleeps through all of this but last night he saw one of the baby's smaller middle of the night movements and he was floored by how "big" the movement was...I was like wait until midnight when it looks like somersaults and jumping jacks.

Since, medical providers have made such a big deal about the consistency in babies movements and baby moves the most predictably at bedtime--I don't think I'm going to get to bed at a more reasonable hour until after baby is born.
  • @sarahgn that is funny that she made you bleach the tops of cans for botulism, botulism is anaerobic so it would grow inside the can, not in the oxygen rich environment on the outside :)
