1st Trimester

Very few/no symptoms

Hi all. Today I am 6 weeks 2 days. I feel very few pregnancy symptoms. I have sore breasts and some very mild cramps. I don't go in to the doctor until Dec. 1 and all I can think about is how worried I am that this will end in MC. Is anyone else having these consuming fears?! I don't know that I've ever WANTED to vomit, but I just feel like if I was overcome with symptoms it would put my racing mind at ease :( should I see if I can get a blood test or be seen by my OB earlier?

Re: Very few/no symptoms

  • I would try to relax... try reminding yourself about all of the horrified women who discover they are newly pregnant after x nights of drinking.

Lots of women don't know they are pregnant because the early symptoms are so similar to those of a monthly cycle.

My early symptoms at 6w consisted of sleeping a lot and having weird dreams.

Giod luck with your pregnancy, you are off to a wonderful start! Congratulations!

  • Total normal thoughts. Be excited you don't have many symptoms, I didn't have too many symptoms either. Also having symptoms or not does not mean anything good or bad, some women just experience more than others. Just try to relax and enjoy your pregnancy.

  • This comes up a lot- but in a (very non-scientific) poll of basically all my friends- they either lucked out and never got sick or they got sick around 8 or so weeks. I was sick from about 7/8 until about 13.
  • any questions/concerns you have about symptoms (or lack there of), ANY symptoms.. use the search function first. guaranteed there will be hundreds of posts asking the same question.
dont worry, you're okay. some women experience every symptom under the sun. some experience none. doesnt mean you'll have a MC.
  • Sore boobs and mild cramps may well be a good sign! :) Assuming you are now 7w4d or so, there's a 97.2% chance that you'll be A-okay! Check out the chart "Chances of NOT miscarrying"; search for it above. That puts my mind at ease every single day! xxx
  • I just have sore boobs, fatigue, and some cramping. I'm 11 weeks today :) be thankful you aren't sick like a lot of mommas are.
  • Try to relax. Tbh there have been a couple of times where I forgot I am pregnant because I feel so little then I have a little twinge in my boobs or abdomen and I remember like Oh yeah!

  • Be careful what you wish for! With my first, I went up a bra size at 14 weeks and had blood pressure drops at 18 weeks due to anemia but NO symptoms of pregnancy before that. My boy grew just fine and is perfectly healthy. This baby however... I have been sick as a dog since BEFORE 3 weeks (10+2 now) and it is miserable. I will throw up on the next person who tells me nausea is a good sign.
  • My first pregnancy, I had every stereotypical symptom exactly as the movies described it. My morning sickness was severe and otherwise, I had a storybook pregnancy. I miscarried AFTER the 8 week milestone.

This pregnancy, I have had nothing stereotypical happen to me. Sore boobs came and went. Morning sickness was not sickness. It was constant food aversion and vague, weird nausea. In my second trimester, I felt perfectly normal but didn't gain any weight as I still had food aversions and no cravings. My third trimester I do not have a sore back, am not really tired, am carrying small and don't waddle. I continue to have zero cravings with the exception of the smell of the garage and foods that taste bitter. Other than a bout of severe anxiety that was unfortunately not caught between trimesters 1 and 2, I have not had mood swings or hormone surges at all.

My baby is great and smack dab in the 50th percentile for her size, making her perfectly normal in size and weight.

my mother had zero symptoms with me. Her bust didn't grow or get sore, she had no cravings OR aversions, no morning sickness. With my sister, she gained weight, ate everything, cried and barfed. Both of us were healthy babies. I was enormous, being a late-term preemie and in the 7 lb range.

So look, it's really kind of a crapshoot. I remember how scary the first trimester was for the same reasons. Stay off google and remember two very important things: You are pregnant until a doctor determines otherwise. And every day you are pregnant, your baby's chances of arriving healthily to term increase. After 8 weeks, those odds go WAY up.
