Baby chewing wrist and bleeding

My LO cut his bottom front teeth a month ago and he's been chewing and sucking on everything since, including his own hands. This wasn't a problem until I started noticing little spots of blood on his sheets and figured out that he has actually bit his own wrist to the point of drawing blood.

Has anyone had this happen? Is this behavioral or just an accident? He doesn't seem any more moody than usual, but his sleep is interrupted more when he seems to be particularly droopy and intent on chewing things (which I assume is all teething-related).

Re: Baby chewing wrist and bleeding

  • Could you just leave a teether in his crib for him to chew on at night?

For now i would put him in long sleeve pajamas or even those that have a flap to cover the hands (attached scratch mittens) to keep him from hurting himself

  • I think once they get chompers there's bound to be some damage! My ds1 was (still is!?) a thumb sucker and he broke the skin on his thumb a few times.
  • I wonder if Munch Mitts might help. I'm not sure if they would stay on well overnight, but they might help during the day. We use them for our twins that are teething and they really love them. I posted some info about them along with some of the other toys that have helped. Teething is rough, right?! Good luck to you and your LO. https://www.theydontfeedthemselves.com/early-teething-toys-twin-babies/
