Nail Salon at 7 weeks preggo

Hi ladies! I'am currently 7 weeks pregnant and ever since I found out I was pregnant I stopped doing my nails but I can't stand looking at my bare nails any longer especially because I work in the beauty industry so all the other girls that I work with always have their nails done, I've heard so many mixed reviews on whether or not it's ok to go to the nail salon for a mani/pedi so I wanted to get some feedback from you ladies on whether or not it's ok to go, I would just be getting a regular mani pedi, no gel or acryclis

Re: Nail Salon at 7 weeks preggo

  • I go the whole pregnancy. I do try to go on less busy times so the odds of it totally reeking is lower...

  • I still go! My doc said it was okay. I actually do get gel manis and need to ask about that at my next appt. I know you can buy more natural nail polish online if that would ease your anxiety.

Honestly, I feel like my mani/pedis are what I look forward to most so I definitely don't plan on stopping!

  • The only issue with getting your nails done is the smell making you feel sick.  Nothing absorbs through your nails in significant amounts that could be harmful to the baby.  If it makes you feel better, you can use big-3-free or big-5-free nail polish brands

  • I'm 9w6d and just had mine done. Like PP, I went when it wasn't busy. I also read that some brands are safer than others, just like makeup. OTC brands "ok'd" are Ellie, OPI, and Sally Hanson, but there are more expensive approved polishes out there too. An added bonus is home touch ups and a quick color change too. I'm opting to take in my own polish to the salon and skip the acrylic & gel mani until after June. In the end it's all about personal preference adjusting beauty routines or not. I also work in an industry where appearance plays a huge roll in my income. It's difficult to primp when all you want to do is eat carbs, sleep, and watch Christmas movies and try not to think about the MS. Lol. Do what's best for you, your pregnancy, and confidence.
  • I got my nails and toes done my entire pregnancy last time, and am with this baby as well. I'm not worried.

  • I think as long as you don't drink the nail polish you'll be fine.

  • I think it's totally fine. Never think twice about it
  • Thank you ladies, made me feel a lot better about going to the salon
  • I have gone, I just try to use the brands with less chemicals like OPI and go when it's not too busy.
