High-Risk Pregnancy

MCMA (Momo) twins

Hi everyone

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and my ultra sounds shows Momo twins. Last year I had an Ectopic pregnancy and one of my tubes were removed. So I feel a bit upset that the only 2 times I've been pregnant they seem to be not straightforward.

I know it's early and a lot can chAnge at this point. And I am very optimistic it looks like even if my preganacy ends up as Momo there are lots of successful Births of twins.

I have an appointment with a specialist next week. And before that I've done research to try and learn as much as possible about this type of pregnancy.

The only topic I can not learn more about is selective fetal reduction in Momo pregnancies. Does anyone who had a Momo preganacy have any experience with this? Or does anyone know a success rate of this type of procedure?

Thanks

Re: MCMA (Momo) twins

  • I personally have no experience with any twins, but I know 2 success storys with MOMO twins. My granddad and his twin were MOMO both survived to adult hood, and they were born in 1917. Also a girl I went to school with gave birth a few years ago with MOMO twin girls, she had alot of complications and ended up on bed rest for a month and then had a c-section at 35wks but after birth all were healthy, i think the girls stayed in NICU for a week. But have hope, not everything goes as planned but they can still turn out just fine.
