Blood Work!

So being the anxious little butterfly that I am, I had my labs from last Thursday faxed to me before my pcp appointment today. They only did a qualitative HCG (the nurse I was working with didn't seem to believe my dizziness was d/t pregnancy, saying the urine test was "very very accurate" and since it was negative there was no reason to check blood- long story short, it was positive and I am 4 weeks today) and they did an additional full panel because I collapsed at work. Well now I have the full panel and it has two "abnormal" values: red blood cells (which is likely because I'm anemic- I'm working on this!) and Lymphocytes Absolute (uh what?). The internet results when I enter this into google are kind of concerning to me...could this be because I have a cold? Does anyone else agonize over this stuff like I do? I wish I had a quantitative HCG :( advice?

I think you're agonizing, which who hasn't when they get inconclusive blood work back. I read a little bit as well and if your doctor wasn't concerned or said you need to come in for more testing I would breathe a little easier. Having a higher white blood cell count does make since if you had a cold, because that's there job to fight off infections, bacteria, and the like. Did you doctor say anything?

  • Don't know what any of that means, But fx you have a good appointment today and the blood work doesn't show much concern. Let us know what happens!
  • @thebigoaktree No, I'm following up today with my pcp because this was done in urgent care. I'm wondering if the opposite holds true (that I'm not doing a good job fighting off this cold?) because it's lower than it should be. I'm trying not Google! Haha!

@juliagulia38 thanks for your well wishes! Appts in a few hours...counting the minutes!
  • Yeah, stay off Dr. Google, he's the worst. Hope everything goes well for you.
