Mine was like that at first, but she got better. It helps if I feed her right before, she'll usually fall asleep. She still cries and wants out sometimes and there's nothing you can do! I sit back there with her when I can to comfort her just in case, but if she doesn't cry then I try to stay as quiet as possible and not touch her!
Mine used to be like that. I would try to time outings to times when she had just woken up from a nap (so she wasn't tired) and had just been fed and changed and she would still freak out most of the time. Now she is three months old and has gotten much better, 98% of the time she snoozes in her car seat. I guess she just had to get used to it. In the meantime, try different types of music, white noise, or roll the windows down, or maybe those dangly toys you attach to the car seat. My daughter has a soft elephant blanket thing she likes to hold onto as well.
My lo is 8 weeks and HATES the car. From what I can gather, he just hates being alone back there. I do my best to make sure he is full and clean before we leave the house. Also, if he is sleepy already, he only cries for 5-10 min before he passes out. If not, he cries almost the whole time! I just turn on calm music, try to reach back to hold his Paci in, and remind myself that I am not a terrible mom!
The first few weeks I felt awful!!! But it is getting easier. We can't just stay home! So I do my best to prepare lo as well as I can, and ignore the cries! I have noticed its getting better, the calmer I stay, and the more we just keep making short trips around town.
