Do you dream feed?

DS is 7 weeks old and has a nasty witching hour. So he basically likes to nurse around 4:30pm and then again around 6pm and then he wants to be asleep in his room. He has a good stretch of sleep from there which is nice but I don't go to sleep till 9 or 10. Should I try a dream feed to get him to sleep longer? I know some people advise against it because it goes against the on demand feeding but mama needs some sleep.

Re: Do you dream feed?

  • I did this with my son because I went to bed late as well and it totally worked he would sleep through for the most part. But.... when i stopped doimg it he started to wakr up for it and he is now onr and I go to bed a little earlier and he still has the habit of waking up everynight around midnight for what I think was his dream feed I used to df him at 11. We are working on it and that's the only time he wakes but its still very frustrating. I probably did the dream feed to long though mu hubby works away so I didn't have any help all week so I was exhausted. Do what you feel is best though that was my experience but sometimes you have to do what's best for you at that time. Good luck:)

  • I did it for a while but found it didn't really make much of a difference of when my LO woke up next. So now I just let him sleep.
  • I did with my older daughter and to this day (almost 3 years old) she wakes up around 10-11 each night for a minute or two. She fortunately puts herself back to sleep but I feel bad that my dreamfeeds likely have disrupted her sleep so long....
  • I've done it with both kids. When I was ready to quit, I gradually move the dream feed closer to her last feeding until it was within a half hour of her last feeding of the day. I never had an problems with her waking up for a dream feed.
