How do you find out if twins?

Hi everyone, I'm 7 weeks week my second pregnancy. I have an 18 month old son. I'm feeling symptoms a lot sooner and stronger this time, increased nausea, lightheadedness, fatigue. Twins run in my family. I have an appointment with OB nurse at 8.5 weeks but I don't think they are doing an ultrasound then. Just wondering when one wound find out if they are carrying twins?

    Occasionally, you can hear two HBs on the Doppler, but the only way to know for sure is a US.

    An ultrasound is when you'll find out. If you browse some of the older threads, you'll notice a number of 2nd+ time moms have earlier/stronger symptoms this time around. Every pregnancy is different, you very well could be carrying one and just experiencing it differently.

    A trained Doppler tech may be able to tell 2 heart beats vs one, but there's no guarantee that you'll be able to hear hbs simultaneously that early on.

    This. An ultrasound is the only way to really know.
