Less than an hour. Usually during a meal. We have it by the dining room table. It's like the only place she'll sit awake and not scream for a few minutes
My son has to sleep in his at night. I know it's not recommended but the alternative is him choking so it's the lesser of 2 evils. He's had issues with congestion since basically birth and if he sleeps flat for more than maybe an hour he ends up with snot just sitting in the back of his throat and will wake up choking on it which is terrifying. We even got an insert that goes under the bassinet mattress to put it at an incline and that didn't work. The swing and boppy lounger are the only 2 things that have enough incline to prevent it but not so much incline that his head would slouch forward or cause other issues with obstruction to his airway.
I may have never understood the phrase 'mama knows best' before I had a child. I seriously know what that girl needs. It's so funny, when I'm away, my body even knows when she is hungry. I come home and ask the last time she was hungry..and it's around the same time that my milk let-down. I have no idea how my milk knows the time my baby needs it, but it does.. There's seriously some crazy connection between mothers and children. (Side note..I'm usually away for a few hours at appointments while the mothers take care of Violet)
@JenLovesDesign same thing happens to me! I teach from 11-4 and about 12-12:30 ish and 3-3:30 ish I can tell he's ready to eat! Crazy! Also my baby spends quite a bit of time in the swing. He doesn't like the swing we have at my house but LOVES the one at my moms and at his daycare. Pretty sure he would nap in those all day if he could!
My 10-week-old naps in his swing once a day, maybe for an hour or so. The rest of his naps are in his crib, rock n play, or on me. We've been using his high chair during our mealtimes now (it reclines for newborns). We put a few stuffed animals on the tray and he stares at them and hits them and we get to enjoy our meals
