Babies: 0 - 3 Months

What do you do while nursing?

My baby is 2 months old and is slow when it comes to nursing (30 min each side, so normally about an hour). What do you do when nursing? I'm bored of the TV (I've watched all the shows...) and messing around on my phone. I definitely read a lot and still will, any other good ideas?

  • You could try baby wearing while breastfeeding. That would open a world of possibilities.

  • I got sick of TV and my phone so I started reading a book. Stimulates my brain again and helps me enjoy endless nursing sessions
  • Youtube. I would sit in front of the computer and watch my shows or stream movies with a friend.
  • Netflix. I finished every episode of MAS and am almost done with Dr Who. What to watch next????
  • My LO is only 4 weeks old, at what point will BFing not require 2 hands so that I can start to do more than watch TV?

  • I haven't had to use 2 hands since about 2 weeks (she's now 10) buty daughter has always had a really good latch! So I watch tv, browse on my phone, read, eat, but I'm starting to get the urge to be more productive. I'm a teacher so it'd be nice to start getting some lesson plans started. Has anyone used a tablet for typing, etc like in google drive?
  • I love to call my mom and gab about things I would bore my husband with (like my failed attempts to diet, or what we both think of our favorite tv shows, or something happening in the news), or some of my girlfriends at work over their lunch break for some quick phone gossip and just to keep up with how they're doing. I felt like never had time for the phone before my baby girl was born so I'm trying to enjoy this newfound "free time" while I'm on maternity leave. I also recommend using your EarPods so you have a free hand if needed for the baby or something else.
  • Prison break love it
  • I catch up on phone calls!  Since I know my LO will be (mostly) quiet for 40-60 minutes, it's a great time for me to catch up with friends and family.  Occasionally I have to put them on hold to burp my DD, but aside from that it's a good chunk of uninterrupted time I don't otherwise have!
  • Netflix and HBO for me :)
  • Phone calls are a good idea, normally I don't enjoy phone calls but maybe it will help pass the time. Thanks everyone!
