Horrible nipple pain with 4 month old

The last few days I have been in so much pain. It just started out of no where. It's only on one side. It feels like a needle in the center of my nipple. It hurts for a long time after I nurse and almost has me in tears while DD Is eating. Does this sound like something is wrong? DD has never had a great latch and I've been in a lot of pain other times be use of it. I'm not sure if that's what it is this time or not. If I decide to see a doctor, who would I go to for this?

    It could be thrush which I had for a long time. You should go to your OB and if it is they will prescribe you diflucan and probably an APNO. I also took a daily probiotic to help flush it out. Mom and baby can pass it back and forth which makes it hard to get rid of, so have him checked too (white patches in mouth? Diaper rash?). I had it for so long I needed my maternity leave extended, wish I'd gotten the prescription sooner. Also try to eat clean, yeast lives on sugar (which is why the breast milk covered nipples are the perfect breeding grounds). Doesn't effect milk so don't worry about that. But it hurts like hell I feel your pain! Good luck! Go to the dr! Get some ice packs!

    That sounds like me when I had mastitis. Started with that pain and then that breast got red and swollen. I then got a fever. Antibiotics helped quickly

    Thanks. I'm pretty sure it's thrush. I don't think there is much I can do until Monday. The on call doctor at my OB wouldn't prescribe anything without seeing me. She said I could go to the ER or try the urgent care, but said most likely the urgent care won't do anything. Ugh. I guess I'll tough it out for a couple more days. I haven't noticed any white spots on DD, but the center of my nipple is white and all around it is really red.
