Pregnant with flu

Hi! I'm 11 weeks pregnant today and have been experiencing a low grade fever on and off for the past three days. I went to see my doctor and she sent me off with some Tylenol to take when I feel I need to and antibiotics to take if fever is still there at day 4. Any moms experience this? I'm so nervous I don't want my fever to do any harm to my baby.

  • Listen to your doctor and you'll be fine.

  • You do not have the flu. You may have a cold. Your Dr's advice is sound. Listen to him/her, they are medically licensed, and we are not.
    Thank God for Raid.

This. Influenza is a lot more serious than a low grade fever...you'd be bedridden for days, if not a week. You have a cold. Take Tylenol for the fever and ride it out.

Im sorry to hear you arent feeling well. Ditto to PP, you dont have the flu, doctors wouldn't prescribe antibiotics for flu as its a virus. Take the tylenol to keep the fever down and if your doc isn't worried, I wouldn't be.

On that note, please do get the flu vaccine once you're better, the actual flu can carry a much greater risk of complications when you're pregnant, and because of your compromised immune system, you're more likely to catch it too.
