Best Doppler to buy?

Hi- this may be a question best suited for second time moms, but I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for which dopplers to buy or avoid? Would really appreciate your experiences! TIA!

Re: Best Doppler to buy?

  • I've never used one but I know a lot of moms use the sonoline b and like it. This was actually asked just a few threads down so you may get some answers there.

  • Thanks, saw that one after posting but didn't see anything but the sonoline b mentioned.
  • I love my sonoline c! It was just on groupon as well. I'm 9w4d right now and found it pretty quickly.

Thank you! That was super helpful!

I went online and read reviews btwn the b and c and liked the c better. The groupon is still available and a great option so I picked up the c. Here's the link if anyone else wants one!

  • I bought an angel sounds fetal Doppler, which was much cheaper, with my first pregnancy and it worked fine!
  • I have the Sonoline B. It's amazing.

  • Me too! Sonoline B :)
  • I've also heard that sonoline B is the way to go
  • I have the sonoline B Doppler and it works great! I believe I heard my twins around 11 weeks. I chose the Doppler cause of the high reviews. It's a little more expensive than other brands but you pay for quality :)
  • This is great everyone! Thank you so much for the input. I'll post how the sonoline c works too when I it arrives. :)

  • No prob! I've been able to easily listen to babies heart beat for about three days now since it arrived. I'll be 10 weeks on Monday. I don't think the actual heart rate counter works accurately though because you'll hear your own heartbeat and it'll give off a correct number average and then when you find the babies which is so distinctly different (fast! And a waka waka type sound) it doesn't seem to catch up and count it correctly. I tried to attach a video but it won't let me :(

Hmm interesting. I'll let you know what mine does. How long did it take for it to come once you ordered?

  • This is awesome. I will definitely check this out. Thank you so much for passing the information on!
  • @noslen0519 it was surprisingly quick. Ordered it from groupon and got it within four business days I think. And it blows my old one out of the water. I got the c. I've been able to find the baby every single time I use it. It's been crazy too... One day he/she was all the way on the right and then by night time he/she had moved to middle. I'm always guessing where it'll be lol.

  • @noslen0519 don't be! It's very normal for them not to be heard until wk 11 by Doppler, even in the OB office.
  • I'm 11 weeks and still only found it once. Try in the morning while your bladder is full. My doctor actually said don't use it till after 12 weeks cause it will only cause stress it's hard find..

Got the sonoline c already and love it. Came with everything and used it right away. Very easy, haven't tried all the functions. Couldn't hear anything on the first attempt in the morning (I was 9+0) but tried again that night and could pick up possibly the louder half of the hb? I found it on the midline a couple inches below my belly button if others are looking and I used a ton of gel the second time which definitely helped.

Lol, so half... that's more than I hoped for and it was cool to hear the regular sound and see the graph even if it wasn't the full picture. Very faint but excited to hear more as the weeks pass.
  • I have to get one of these. I recorded the heartbeat on my phone when my doctor found it. I’ve been really emotionally and irritable and whenever it gets bad, I listen to it and it calms me down. It would just be a great stress reliever to listen live whenever I want to.

  • Has anyone regretted getting one?? I bought a single friend of mine one when she was pregnant last year, due to a scare she had, with no one to talk her down in the middle of the night. She was like 6 months pregnant and couldn't find the HB. The baby was fine but I wondered if I made her situation worse. They don't always work properly/the baby moves, etc.

    I can't remember what brand.

  • I'm almost 9w. Probably won't b able to hear hb by Doppler yet huh?? Thinking I maybe should wait a couple of weeks before I get one

@agillespie15 Waiting or avoiding is a good idea if not finding the hb will cause stress. A lot of women won't be able to hear it before 11-12 wks and not always even after as pp mentioned. My baby is high in the uterus and my placenta is not in front. Even so, I couldn't find it yesterday, but then found it again tonight. I didn't worry since at 9+4 I know it's early and that these aren't professional (and I am definitely not professional). So use your best judgement. Ive accepted it's very hit or miss for a while yet.

On the flip side, tonight was so special. DH came over and wanted to try and his face when he found it was so touching. We both teared up a teeny bit and listened to the quick beat. It's still very faint, barely registers on the graph, but you can hear the regular fast beats sometimes and it calms me. I love the sonoline c so far, but if anyone felt they didn't enjoy the purchase- please post for @peregrinefalconx ! :)
  • I'll just say that even though I can get that doppler I bought for a friend back, I'm not going to. At 11 weeks, my doc spent 10  minutes trying to find the HB on a doppler that looked like the $40 I had bought. My uterus is tipped so far back, he said it might be halfway through a pregnancy before you could really hear anything. So personal body configuration is important...if you have a tipped uterus, might as well save the stress!
