Good Morning! Just thought I would share some good news and my experience today in case anyone else is getting closer to an early appointment. I had a bit of brown spotting recently, so my OB allowed us to have an early ultrasound this morning. I am supposed to be six weeks today and baby measured at 5 weeks 6 days, so pretty much exactly on track! We were even able to verrrry closely detect an early heartbeat! It was measured at about 90bpm, which is pretty normal for a heart that only recently started to beat. We saw my corpus luteum and everything else looked right on track. Hoping this baby keeps on sticking around!
Good luck to anyone else having early ultrasounds soon!

I had an early ultrasound BC I suffered a loss in July. When I went to the hospital for the MC, they found a large dermoid cyst in my right ovary. I had it surgically removed in August and lost part of my ovary. Needless to say, I had a f*'ed up summer!! But fortunately we were able to conceive again! BC of everything that happened, they've been monitoring my pregnancy super closely & I got the early ultrasound.
Not only did they definitively rule out an ectopic (which was a concern BC of the surgery), but everything looked great. I also had a faint fetal heartbeat, which amazed me! The tech wouldn't let me hear it, but they measured it at 96 bpm and then 100 bpm and I could see the little flicker on the screen. I'm so excited!
But just a word of caution, DONT freak out if there's no fetal pole or heartbeat when you do such an early US. It's totally normal if it's not there yet. At 5 and 6 weeks it's still reeeaally early. They'll reset you for a few more days to a week. A few days can make all the difference. Good luck to everyone!! I can't wait to hear more beautiful stories and positive experiences!
