wth is happening with my dates??

Hey ladies, just needed to vent a bit because this pregnancy has been bizarre so far. My LMP date is August 30th but I only had one period since my daughter was born back in April 2014 so I wasn't sure my cycle length was normal and requested an early ultrasound. I was expecting to see like 6 babies in there or one giant monster baby since I'm already back into maternity pants and have been nauseated/barfing since before I even had my positive home test result, but instead it was an awkward and discouraging ultrasound...took forever, she had to switch to internal instead of external because she wasn't seeing anything, and then she wouldn't tell me how far along I was but did act veeeeeeery skeptical of my dates (which I was certain of, but like I said, wasn't so sure of cycle length). Didn't hear anything from my doctor who ordered the US for the next week so I asked my midwife who I haven't even seen yet this pregnancy to look up my results, and she said I measured a full 2 weeks behind where my LMP would put me ;( which also means a) I've literally been sick as a dog since 4 weeks and b) I have 2 more weeks than I thought of hideous first trimester to look forward to. Feeling so frustrated with my body right now :( I thought first pregnancy was bad but this one is just killing me!

  • When did you get a positive home test?

  • 6 1/2 weeks after LMP...apparently when I was 4 1/2 weeks pregnant
  • Had a negative one 5 weeks after LMP so I did suspect I was a bit behind, but baffled by how far behind I am given the intense symptoms
  • Well, the good news is that it sounds like baby is progressing well and your cycles are long like you expected. I don't think it's outrageous to have been sick at 4 weeks, just unlucky. I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. Hopefully you'll get relief soon!

  • I got a positive home test before 4 weeks so I wouldnt be surprised if the u/s dates were right. Weird that they didn't tell you anything at all though. Symptoms can start at any time, I've heard a lot of women on here saying this pregnancy was worse than their first so if you were bad with your first, following the trend of others, it may be normal (for you). I'm sorry you're feeling so sick, I've been naseous since early week 5 but only starting actually getting sick at 6w5d. Don't forget doctors do have some great pregnancy safe drugs to quell the nausea if you are struggling really badly. Hope you feel better!
  • I'm behind too. I have 50-60 day cycles. When I went in yesterday her first question was cycle length. They weren't able to guess my due date but I'm going back in two weeks. Have you looked into the unison and b6 combo?
  • Thanks ladies. I'm on Diclectin, a Canadian pregnancy nausea drug (the only one approved here) that I think is the same as unisom+b6. Helps a little, thank goodness! My last pregnancy I couldn't come off it until the end of my 2nd trimester. The things we endure for sweet little babies <3
  • I'm sorry your scan was so discouraging.
It sounds like your cycle was longer than usual and LMP isn't a good indicator.
The fact that you were sick enough to need medication with your last pregnancy too adds no surprise that you started getting sick so early with this one as well.

Try to stay positive! I'm sorry it feels a bit like limbo and you don't have concrete answers.

But today you are pregnant. <3
