Fetal Doppler Question

Hi Ladies-
My current conundrum is that I'd LOVE to announce to my family at Thanksgiving. I'll be 10wks 2days. Unfortunately my 2nd u/s is scheduled 3days AFTER Thanksgiving. I really want the comfort of knowing all is still well from the 2nd u/s but I also don't know if I could wait till Christmas!
I'm curious is if anyone has had success with a Fetal Doppler??? I feel like it might ease my worries before spilling the beans

    I have no good advice for you but am also interested in the same question- I had my first US at around 6wks and am now 10... just want positive confirmation that the LO is healthy/growing/etc!  I may also need to tell my office soon and want to confirm before doing that.

    I've not used one, but I've heard a lot of mom's complain about them. It's hard to get a heartbeat on them sometimes which can cause a lot of stress for you, thinking something is wrong when it isn't. Food for thought, I've been tempted to get one for myself but decided I would freak out of it didn't work

    Love the doppler.  I found the heart beat at 8w5d.  I use it all the time, and it gets easier the more you practice.  Unfortunately, if you can pick it up, it can cause unnecessary worry when all is well.  So I would only use it as a tool to confirm that that little heart is still flickering, and never as a confirmation that it is not.  All it can give you is the security that telling your family that day is still OK :-)

    Anyway, I recommend getting one.  They are amazing.  I used it often my first pregnancy until the baby got active.

    I got one last week! This will be my third baby, but first time having a Doppler, and it has taken so much unneeded worry away :) I found the heart beat at 9 weeks 1 day, and have found it every morning since I'm 10 weeks 1day now.
    It was hard at first, the second day I searched for half an hour before I faintly found it, but now I can find it pretty much right away.
    I had the exact same worry, I want to announce at thanksgiving, at 13 weeks but what if something was wrong, and I didn't even know?
    Anyway, I got the Sonoline B on eBay for 35 bucks.

    @Incandescent Thank you for the response! For $35 maybe it's worth a shot!

    The announcement plan is give mom at dinner a baby onsie I ordered with the official UPS Priority Delivery label printed on it with all the arrival info on it (my mom is a UPS driver)

    LOVE the Sonoline B! We used it weekly with my son. It was so nice to listen to his little heartbeat after a long week of work. I can't wait to use it again! Such a neat experience!
