Infertility

Newbie - introduction

Hi ladies,

I just wanted to post a little introduction as I join this community and hope to meet and support others who are going through infertility issues.

A little background: I am 27 and my husband is 28, we have no children and we have been TTC for 8 months. I have recently found out that I am anovulatory and will be starting clomid plus HcG injections to get those eggs on the move. I consider myself extremely lucky to have found this out, a) at this age, and b) so early on in the TTC process. The reason it was caught is that I have one ovary which sits on my back, so I've had to keep an eye on everything closely as its position could lead to increased chance of ectopic pregnancy, if I were to ovulate out of that one.

I was monitoring everything monthly and not getting positives on ovulation tests, and to be honest, I felt something was wrong. So now that it's confirmed I can move on and be grateful that I have the opportunity now to actually have a shot at it!

My husband and I live abroad and so, although I'm positive about the plan, I can feel quite isolated being away from all my friends and family, but even more importantly I would like to be part of a community where other people are dealing with the same or similar issues.

We start the first month of treatment in one week and I look forward to learning lots from people here and hopefully helping others on here too.

Julianna xx

  • Hi Julianna - first... welcome! :) sorry you find yourself here in the first place, but now that you are, I hope you are able to find the support you are looking for. These ladies are awesome!

I'm really hopeful for you in starting your clomid cycles. Forewarning - you may feel a little irrational and crazy on clomid. And by little... I mean a lot. ITS NORMAL haha. Not everyone experiences it, but I was cuckoo. Well worth it though.

I imagine its hard for you being abroad away from family and friends while starting this journey. I'm away as well, but I've been on this journey coming up 5 years so its a bit different. The first while is probably the most emotional (at least it was for me... I'm somewhat numb now).

We are always here if you need us. Best of luck to you. I hope clomid is the magic trick for you! :)

  • Welcome! It's always nice to have people who know exactly what you're going through
  • Welcome and good luck with your cycle.  I did Clomid (successfully) so let me know if you have any questions.  I second @oxinfree, Clomid made me ragey, but at least it was self-limited - the rage stopped shortly after I stopped taking the medication.  :)

  • Thanks ladies for the responses! I'm taking clomid first day tomorrow and after having been so upbeat about the whole thing, felt my whole emotions come crashing to my knees this morning! Maybe clomid can unrage me?

@oxinfree and @emsmama15 thanks for the heads up about the rage!

I had my initial scan this morning and she kept describing my right ovary as "dangerous" and the other as "totally inactive" so I didn't feel massively encouraged after that meeting. She's worried about too many eggs from the "dangerous" one affecting the cycle but I guess we just go ahead and see what happens in a week. I asked her if by "dangerous" she meant "good" because to me good-looking follicles is good news, but she once again corrected me with "dangerous" so that was nice.

Anyway! Thanks again for the support ladies!
