Real discomfort when baby moves

I searched for this topic, so don't scold me--I couldn't find anything regarding this particular problem.

I don't think I ever feel like baby kicks. It's never that quick or jolting. I feel like more she is twisting CONSTANTLY and digger her elbows and knees in.
I'm so glad I have the constant reassurance that she's doing well, but it's really starting to hurt! It's so exaggerated that it can cause our whole bed to move. When I watch the movement, my stomach moves by a good 2 inches at least. On top of this, is the fact that I have always been UTI sensitive, and now her grinding on my bladder is almost bringing me to tears at times. Laying on my side helps just a little, but at 31 weeks, I'm still doing a 40-hour work week, and taking care of three stepkids.

I feel so guilty because I just want her to give it a rest, but gosh, it hurts! (I tried to explain it to my husband. It's like getting a really firm deep tissue massage. From the inside.)

Is anybody else having real pain when baby moves?

Re: Real discomfort when baby moves

  • I feel less kicks and more twisting. And yes sometimes it's painful for me too, particularly near my belly button!

  • Yes.  His movements are more painful than not.  Sometimes it feels like he's trying to come out of my bellybutton. :|

  • @carlyhammond I said the same thing yesterday! I feel like shes going to turn into the hulk!
@nlwz123 always near the belly button!! Its so weird!

Ive been feeling a lot of moving more so then kicks and jabs lately. It gets really uncomfortable sometimes eapecially when you've eaten too much so your stomach is already stretching
  • My little girl seems to think that the escape route is via my belly button. I've got to think it's an elbow or knee that she's pushing out with, but I have had to stop what I was doing in multiple occasions recently due to the pain. It feels like I'm being stabbed from the inside!
  • The little nugget has found my kidneys... not to mention the RLP I still have from the stretching uterus. The movements have definitely gotten more uncomfortable in the past week.
  • Ditto laddies.. haha. I push her back in. (Gently)
  • I don't experience any pain, but sometimes general discomfort with her movement. She doesn't really do any quick jabs or kicks, mostly big movements. She likes to give me a nice lopsided tummy or stretch out entirely at the bottom of my stomach, with head and feet on either side. Those are the times I feel like she's gonna push her way out! Then other times it feels like she is perpendicular in my stomach. She just likes to rearrange herself all at once!

  • I'm 29 weeks with di/di girls n they like to both be cuddled on the right side causing a VERY lopsided belly lol and can cause quite the pains.
  • I am SO in the lopsided belly club! My kiddo seems like he doesn't know that my uterus does have a left side! lol.
  • I told my ob yesterday that I'd like it if the baby started to expand out the front of my belly instead of always trying to burrow into my pelvis or climb into my rib cage. It's getting hard to even sit down because it's pretty uncomfortable! I'm also in the lopsided club :) often one side of my belly will be completely squishy and the other side is rock hard. I notice more painful movements in the second half of the day when I'm more tired and my posture isn't great.

I started seeing a chiropractor for sciatic pain, and she has also done wonders with my RLP. Now I only seem to have RLP when I jump out of bed suddenly. (Usually because of leg cramps. Ain't pregnancy grand?)
  • Yes, I'm feeling something similar. It definitely feels weird and uncomfortable. I don't think there's much to do about it though except give birth!

  • I've inky had true pain a couple of times, but I get really nauseous when there are several big movements in a short period of time. I love them, but it makes me almost feel like I'm going to vomit.
  • Glad I'm not the only one not totally loving the rolling around, uncomfortable, jolting movements. I was feeling guilty. He is loving making me look all lopsided, while somehow occupying all but one upper quadrant, so he can simultaneously kick and pop in all directions when I want to sleep. I have tried to explain he should be nice to Mommy, as well as tell him he is not an angry octopus, but I guess it's too much fun. Lol

I'm a few months behind you ladies, and I'm just starting to feel movement, not consistently though. I'm almost 20 weeks. To me it feels like sharp muscle twitches, not the butterfly flutters or fish swimming around sensation I've heard about. It surprises me sometimes how strong it is, and made me wonder if it would become painful once he gets bigger. Then I stumbled across this thread.....oh my! Makes me a little anxious about what's to come, eek!!
  • Just commenting to share I also commiserate with the discomfort of baby movement (feels like torn muscles) and lobsidedness. This is I believe baby girl's butt sticking up last night
