Genetic testing and freaking out!!

Im 8wks1day.. Had blood work done at my last ob visit and I got a call today saying I carried the gene for cystic fibrosis..boyfriend goes tomorrow to get tested. Any advice because this momma to be is FREAKING OUT!! Anyone gone through this???

Don't freak. I read someone else on here mention roughly 1 in 25 are carriers. IF you both hit that 1 in 25 (0.16% chance), there is still a 75% chance that they'd be okay (25% chance nothing, 50% chance they'd be a carrier themself). If you hit that jackpot (0.04%), know that CF isn't the death sentence it once was. There are great drugs that can alleviate most of the symptoms and prevent much of the damage that can occur. Don't stress just yet. I am a carrier but it turns out my DH is not. Like pp said even if you are both positive it isn't what it once was. Hang in there!

There is a fairly slim chance that you and your husband are both carriers- if you are though there's still a very good chance your child will be perfectly healthy
